But ku's football program is certainly gaining momentum each and every year.
Wrong.

Is ku better off with Mangino than Terry Allen? You bet. You are, however, missing some key items. FACT: Allen faced a much tougher North division than Mangino. CU was better, NU was better, KSU was better. The Athletic Department and the University have a much more vested interest in the football team now. The apathy around that program from a fan and AD level was quite apparent under Allen and even Mason. Mason was a good coach that won DESPITE the lack of support. Mason's 92 squad went 8-4 and went to a superior bowl game than Mangino has been to. ku toward the end of Mason's run WAS BETTER than ku is now. Your '92 team would mop the floor with any of Mangino's teams. Past and probably future. If you want to claim ku is improving the last 5 years, sure, outside of that speedbump in '04. Dating back to Mason, however, you've regressed.
Your coach is 19-29 and can't win anything on the road, but you are so happy with him that you nearly tripled his salary and continue to swoon over him despite his lackluster coaching decisions at Toledo (if they line up and run at Toledo every freaking down, they win), his run-ins with the NCAA, and his refusal to go on celebrity fit club.
"He beat KSU! Give him a lifetime contract!" -ku fan.
