I would hold off on switching to anything. Alltel was bought out by Verizon and will be under their control soon.

I know.  I was planning on getting something that is unattached to either.  I don't want to pay the same ass-whores who are tripping all over their labials instead of fixing my damn phone.

Verizon is awful.

Right now I'm with Sprint and couldn't be happier. I'm on the $30 Sero deal that died a while ago. Plus, it has the Touch Pro and Diamond.

That's funny. Out of the five major cell phone companies right now Sprint is in the worst shape.

That's funny.. I've been looking into maybe getting an Alltell data plan since they are the only ones who are uncapped and they have the best coverage area in Kansas.  Of course I live in Colorado, and they don't offer service here so I'd have to use a fake address to get it.  I don't know how the Verizon purchase will affect them.  Right now Alltell has their own network and they also have the Sprint network.

I have Verizon, and they are generally very good.

I've called about 5 times and gone to the store 3.  They blow ass.  They can't even provide basic service.  They are too busy licking goat's asses.

I'm currently calling them, waiting for an operator and then playing:

until they hang up.

It's kind of fun.

Just because they're doing bad financially doesn't mean they are bad in places that directly affect me. Great coverage (you can force roam on your phone to any cdma network. Can't do that on any other service I know of), best 3G network, great phone selection. Oh yeah, unlimited data/texts and 500 minutes for $30 doesn't hurt (thanks clams).

Awful coverage in Manhattan. Absolutely atrocious. And financial issues will often indicate if a company puts out a good product or not.

I used to be on Alltel.  Couldn't wait to get off.  Made a call from my living room in Topeka one time that lasted for 45 minutes.  For some stupid ass reason it was sitting on roam and I never looked for it because I shouldn't freaking have to from my living room.  &@#%ers wouldn't work with me at all on it.  I asked to talk to the supervisor. Got the same story.  Asked to talk to her supervisor.  Bitch first said she didn't have one.  Told her I was shocked I was talking to the CEO of alltell.  Asked again and they put me on hold for good.  Dropped them as soon as I had the chance.

Always had alltel.  Good coverage in Manhattan but for some reason horrid in Topeka.  I haven't had a ton of issues other than that.  Have an HTC 6800 and enjoy it very much.

I've got At&t.   Customer service was better when they were cingular; but I rarely have problems with signal etc.   Plus its easy to buy cheap emergency phones if something goes screwy with your main phone.   I've got about 3 of those pay as you go At&t phones laying around that I bought on long trips wher I forgot a charger and it was cheaper to just buy a new phone & swap the sim card than it was to buy a new charger.

I'm not in Manhattan, and "often" is not a good argument. Especially when I listed things that they are good at that do actually affect me. Besides, you can force roam with your Sprint phone. Something you can't do with any other carrier.

I have never had any kind of issue with sprint.

Hope they don't go bankrupt.

maybe they'll get bailed out.

I've had no service problems with alltel.  I had $50 in extra charges this summer from calls that were supposedly roaming in north central Kansas.  I called and explained what happened and they were immediately taken off.

The only other issue I have is I will sometimes get an "authentication code" error when I try to called in some areas, but that's pretty uncommon.  And I've never called about it, but from I've read that can be fixed.

I didn't know roaming even existed anymore.   I don't think At&t charges for roaming.

Another problem I had was I had one phone and accidentally threw it in the trash when I was on the way out the door.  Didn't realize it and it was in there all day while I was at work.  Trouble is, at the bottom of the trash there was a baggie that leaked that had some raw fish that had gone bad.  Even if that thing had worked, I wasn't going to put it anywhere near my face.

That phone could go for days without being charged.  The one they replaced it with was the "upgraded" model that would go without a charge for about 16 hours.  The reason they gave is that all the models like mine had been snapped up following all the claims that came out of Greensburg.

I love my phone that can go for a week on one charge now.

The only problem I'm having is that everyone employed with alltel has less brains than a jar full of my greasy crap and they are all too busy having gay sex to fix my phone.   :curse:

Depends on the plan.  I have alltel Nationwide, but there are still a few pockets where charges apply.  North Central Kansas is not one of them, in fact I don't think there is anywhere in Kansas you would have to pay.

never had any serious problems w/ Alltel, i know my dad has around $300 dollars worth of credit he didn't even know about saved up. i suppose from always paying his bill early, never going over in mins, etc. although he goes through a phone every couple months.

I heart Alltel.... i guess

I really like Verizon. I don't have too many problems with them, but my Voyager has really been causing me some problems lately.

Get the Dare or the enV.

I've never had any type of problems w/ T-mobile.  One time I got charged 61 dollars for starting a call at 8:59 but 9 was when my free minutes would start. called them and they immediately removed the charges no questions asked.  Also gets great reception in KC, Topeka, and Manhattan.    Phone selection sucks though.

That's what they say, but when it flips over to roam in your living room in Topeka, you're SOL. :curse:
