What size room is it going in?  Everyone I've ever talked to who bought a 37" HDTV has wished that they had gone a size bigger.  That's what she said.

:dunno:

Good tv, but crapty place to get it from. I'd always try to go to a physical store to get one. Just go to Target or Walmart and get a Vizio. How will you be using it?

QFT. You should really see the TV in person before you buy. When I was shopping around for a HDTV, I found a model that looked great on paper but when I viewed it next to other HDTV's in the store it looked like crap. I had almost bought it online and I was very relieved that I didn't.

Stores puposely set up TV's to look like crap to get you to buy something else that they're getting a bigger kick back on, or their sales people have an incentive on.

Always ask for the remote, and then set the TV up to your preferences before making a decisions.

Most instore TV's for example are set up to blow torch level contrast so they'll look brighter.

Well, you also have to take into consideration they are splicing one source into 30 tv's so the PQ won't be as great (but it should be fairly consistant). But, you will find out about the sound, the menu, the remote, the looks, glare or not (mainly with plasma), etc.

I recently bought a 26" Samsung for the upstairs.  I was limited in the horizontal space I had.  After a bunch of research on the internet, including consumer reports and numerous model revue sites, I found out that the nearest place to get that model was Manhattan Best Buy (obviously not) priced at $699.  I went around to various stores locally and checked out several samsung models to see how they worked and what they offered.  While I never did see the actual model I was purchasing, I became satisfied by various reviews and personal study of similar TVs that I was willing to buy online.  I got it from amazon for $499.

(The 60" will go downstairs once I get it)

I'll be using it for watching the KATZ.  And other things.

Is plasma better?  Is 5" worth $100?

can you go out to NFM d00dy or are you trying not to move it?

plasma can be better but it depends on the room you're putting it in.  lots of windows/light then go LCD.  otherwise, plasma is cheaper for more.  LCD costs more because it's a far superior technology.  suck it azcat.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Rusty, if you will be just using an HD box and no bluray or gaming, then you only really need a 720p. A plasma is fine. The only problems are glare (they use glass) and you need to break them in to prevent burn in (you can burn free dvd's and play them on a loop over night and that will do it).

But yes, 42" is well worth it.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10333896

or

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8477432

would work well. Best Buy also has a house brand (Dynex?) that's a 42" 1080p that is supposed to be really worth the 6-700 bucks. Not sure if you'd want your friends to see it though.

Wrong. Plasma is superior in nearly all areas except viewing angle and glare issues w/ lots of light.

Less motion blur, better contrast ratios, etc.

^ Buy that one (Amazon ftw with free shipping and no tax)

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10333896

or get it there and get 3 extra years of warranty for only $88. Pick it up in store.

Alternatively, if you have American Express, you get an extra 1 yr warranty on everything you buy. So buy it from amazon if you want if you have AMEX.
