hey
when was the last time we had a roster where we basically don't lose N E 1 the next year? 05-06? (followed that up w/a +4 season)

00-01? Does N E 1 the players we lost after wool's 1st year? does N E 1 remeber the recruits we brought in for 01-02? (pasco...??)
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

this is an exc. talking point for you.  very elite bbiq.  everyone else talks up the incomers, but you are "nailing it" with the returnees, imo.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

well, i think you underrate the incomers as well. as a ksu bball fan, i've never seen a scenario like this where we return all players (except that f*ck kent) and bring in a great class. (huggins 1st class sucked (like pretty much everything he did @ ksu), and diarra + thomas >>>> kent)

just interesting to see how we do this year. If we go something like 4-12 in big 12 play, asking for an NCAA next year is not very realistic. 7-9+ and yo can get excited for 09-10. Jmo, cats.

another example. 97-98 (7-9 in big 12) lost only swartzy, who was a 9.0 ppg, 38% 3pt player. We went 7-9 the next year as well. we added josh kimm, travs reynolds, cortiz groves and kenytta dix to the 98-99 team. pretty disappointing year.

our roster next year will be/should be better top to bottom than...  ever?  since the mid 70's?

imo, i don't think it's unrealistic to expect NCAA next year.  And if we don't, then I'm not sure why would expect it the following year.

We returned Seabass, Reid and Atchinson after Wools first year.  Lost Terry (a wool recruit) and a handful of other guys.  They were all crappy though.  Added DeJesus, Pasco, Spurlock and Nick Williams.  That season was a +2.

QFT.  Frank should be fired for not making it next year...barring some freak rash of injuries.

do you know the "handful of other guys" ?

I remember chatting w/KK back when we were in middle school after 00-01 about how we were an NCAA lock for 01-02 because we nearly returned the entire team. Spurlock was a fringe top 100 guy, pasco was pasco, and williams was on some recruiting list as well...and voilla...you get unrealistic expectations. hope that's not the case next year.

How does the rest of the B12 look next year?  (too lazy to look).

I'm thinking "bubble team" until I see the newcomers in action.

Lost Kelvin Howell, too.  Probably Josh Kimm, if he wasn't gone already.

nu loses top two scorers. CU will be a non-factor. ISU doesn't lose N E 1. ku may lose both collins and aldy, MU will lose their top two players.

You know I hope this is the last year in KSU BBall history that the only player we lose is to graduation.

great analysis, though i would say that 6-10 would also be cause to get excited for the upcoming season.

i'm not underrating the incomers though, just enjoying that you focus on the returnees while the message board cv is to concentrate on the incomers.

I'll assume Nortard status for all Nortards will remain.  OU loses Griff, UT is UT, Baylor loses a crapload (right?), TT  :jerkoff: , OSU will lose some (right?), A&M isn't anything special......I don't think the Big 12, aside from UT or ku will be overwhelming next year.

KSU has consistent enough talent throughout it's lineup next year that it should go to the Tourney.

pretty sure isu has to lose 1, maybe even 2 guys.  think they are overpromised on 'ships.  outside chance brackins declares.  and they'll def transfer out a scrub or two.

UT is UT

ut should be really good.

ku should be above good.  I don't think Cole goes.  Beyond that, no one in the Big 12 is the tits.

KSU, with the returning experience it has combined with the incoming talent, should not lose because of talent to anyone else in the big 12 besides ku or UT (fair statement?).

another example.

Prob the closest example.  And this was the year I became FAN b/c of the lack of improvement.  Very disappointing year.

Great thread topic, BTW.

Probably true, but if i had to lose one of him or Collins, itd be Collins. Taylor is legit and EJ coming in is huge too. Although Jeff Withey might be coming to ku (7ftr from zona)...

ksu will definitely be better next year. Im still waiting on Ron Anderson to emerge from the dude in the tourney who was owning humans in the paint and on the glass against USC. Samuals just needs to put on some weight. Sutton needs a jumpshot and hes got a well rounded offense to go with great defense. I dont get pullen. He is very bipolar. I think he has nightmares about frank at night. Clemente too. He just keeps running. I dont see fred brown getting any better so the soon Mcgruder can get her the better. But after this team goes through another big12 season with an NIT berth, they will have all the more experience, confidence and another offseason of strength building going into next year.

i'd feel the same way.  love aldrich's game.  if he does come back (would be really stupid), ya'll will be really good - even if collins goes to europe.
