Fact of the matter is that if you live in the KC area and don't make it out to Manhattan often for games, this is prime time!

First, it's the Cats, and any fan would jump at the chance to see them for a relatively low price.
Second, it's the Sprint Center and if you haven't been in yet- WOW! You honestly will feel like you aren't in KC anymore-that is if you ever visited Kemper Arena (Just look below)

Finally, last year there was one major drawing point that wasn't yet completed. This year- not the case. (Also look below)

So there's my pitch to get people to go. And for students, c'mon, it's dead week. Unless you have something reallllly important Friday you can't miss, why not make the drive and take a night off from studying?
Here's the link. $25 tix. Click away! http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0600414DC5F98623?artistid=845267&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=7

Heck, I don't think there's any excuse for people in Manhattan not to go.

I can get not wanting to drive to manhattan on a weeknight, but c'mon, KC is big time.

wow, those are my seats from last year - fun time sitting in the top of sprint arena where it's 175 degrees.  sweet potato fries!

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I think for basketball it is.  No casual fan in KC is going to make a 2 hour drive for a weeknight game.

It could help with football, though.

But this is different (and I know you know  )

the team sucks.  putting ads in the KC Star or buying time on 810 won't change that. Like some guy's going to say "oh, I wasn't going to go to the game, but now that I heard an ad for it, I will."

that doesn't explain it.  45000 rednecks show up every weekend to watch a terrible football team.

Speaking of the game against Cal . . . there was like 52,000 there, and about 5 of them were Cal fans.   I also think part of the problem was some people still remembered the horror of the Iowa game at Arrowhead and 111 degrees.

But yeah, marketing to the highest concentration of K-State alums in the world is just stupid . . . thanks Tim Weiser for that brilliance.

not every weekend....only about 6 over a 3 month period.  And it's much easier to travel on a Saturday than Mon - Thurs.  Try putting the ISU football game this year on a Thurs night in Manhattan....we wouldn't have gotten 45K there.

we've sucked at basketball for like 18 years.  one good season was going to change the fans' behavior?  We act like there was a packed house for the '89 North Texas win.  Those 'necks were packing the Bram back then....why?  Because they were fresh off 3 NCAA tourney appearances (an Elite 8).
