I am just curious.  Is our field still named Wagner field and is there still a sign on Vanier?  I didn't think to look at the last game.  Also, does anyone know what the agreement was when Wagner donated the money?  Is it named Wagner Field forever?

I was wondering the same thing with the Wagner agreement.  Just because he bought the turf once the field is named for him forever?  Damn good deal!

Wagner Field and Vannier Complex names remain as I undertasn it. I think I understood the Vannier family was pushing for the Snuder Stadium name for some time.

It will stay Wagner field forever, because the Wagner Family stepped in at a critical time and gave all the money (from lotto winnings, which Squawks always point out ... and I remind them that the Wagners were already pretty well off, thus they didn't really need their first annual payout from the lottery winnings) for a new AstroTurf8 Field to replace the SuperTurf which had been in place since the early 80's and was well past its prime.

I wasn't clear.  I wasn't asking about the naming of the Vanier Complex.  I meant is there still a sign in the stadium that says "Wagner Field" since they redid the Vanier Complex this year.

there is a sign built in on the side of the vanier complex.  Its pretty small and not real obvious...its on right of the main balcony on the first floor.

Thanks.  I also see on the Ath. Dept website that they call the facility "Wagner Field at Bill Snyder Family Stadium."

STRIKE FIRST. STRIKE HARD. NO MERCY
You're right on Dax - the Wagner family stepped up when we needed them. That is not the only reason that it will always remain Wagner Field though. The AD people at the time screwed up and sold the naming rights to the field forever and not just for the life of the turf - as is common in those kinds of deals. Thus when we needed to replace the turf - we were not able to offer the name of the field as incentive to donate. Believe me, if the Athletic dept had the chance they would have changed the name for the right $$.

I personally am glad it will always be Wagner Field because as dax said they stepped up before we really got rolling. Plus I don't want it named pepsi field or something like that.

They should name a computer after Coach Prince, the biggest computer in the world.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Would it be in poor taste to name the court after Bob Huggins before he plays his first game?

I don't see why it would be bad, it would just show confidence :)
