It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Called the football implosing two years in a row.  Went short oil @ $140/bbl & the S&P & Dow last fall.  But no, I never get anything right.

It was really hard to predict the collapse of the football program.

You sure were right about that whole presidential election thing, weren't you?

Bookmarked it.

sebelius is just as much in obama's pants as some random dem. congressman.

Maybe even more so since the lefties see her as some sort of guru mistakenly believing that she's governor for a reason other than the utter ineptitude of Kansas Republicans.  But she's also an idiot and a very weak leader who's not willing to go to bat for anything (see e.g., our President-elect for another example of that sort) for fear that any action will be a negative for her in the future.  Congresscritters are less restrained.

She was so popular in a republican state that republicans almost didn't even run against her in the second election. It's not just Dems that like her. She will probably be in Obama's cab. Some are saying sec of ag.

She really phoned in that second election. I remember seeing those ads with the paper clips moving and her driving a school bus and being all "WTF is she even trying to say?"

“It looks to me as if homeland security has made another in their long series of very, very bad decisions,” said San Antonio business tycoon B.J. “Red” McCombs, who at one point proclaimed publicly that he was virtually certain that San Antonio would get the lab.

“They are not competitive,” he said of the Kansas proposal. “They can't do what we do and they won't do what we do. It would be another homeland security boondoggle.”

When I said very early on that Obama would win because the country needed a brief four-year reminder of what being "led" by the left is actually like?  Yeah, I'd say I pretty well hit that one out of the park.  If you'd bother to read the post you linked I said Spengler's analyses are often interesting and, well, they are.   :users:

When does Terminal B open up at MHK?

QFT.  All I care about is how this will help MHK and subsequently help KSU athletics.

He predicted that companies nationally and around the world would want to open subsidiaries here, and forecast that Manhattan's population would double in the next two decades due to this decision.

Also this from earlier in the year...

Sebelius earlier this year signed a bill allowing up to $2 million in subsidies for airline service to the regional airport in Manhattan, a measure designed in part to make Kansas’ proposal on NBAF more attractive.

i still don't get the bitching about the airport thing.  the last time i looked, mhk gets like 6-8 flights daily from kc and denver.  if ksu wanted to fly athletes in, it doesn't seem like it would really be that hard.

Would be nice to have nicer planes and direct flights to DFW or ORD.  :dunno:

I know beasley got flown in but hated the little plane.

It's certainly an odd fit. The first time Beasley came to campus for an official visit, the Washington, D.C., kid hopped a 14-seat plane from Kansas City to Manhattan, but the ride was so bumpy that he asked to be driven back to the K.C. airport. That car trip didn't exactly make him feel better. Interstate 70 between Kansas City and Manhattan offers little in the way of sights. There are signs for Alma's Famous Cheese, others touting the nearby Oz Museum and a University of Kansas billboard with the requisite purple-painted graffiti, but you can practically count the number of buildings on one hand.

The NCAA's ban on flying prospects on private planes during official visits is tough on Kansas State. Prospects from the East Coast wishing to visit the campus often must connect flights just to reach Kansas City, then either take a third flight or make a two-hour drive to Manhattan. That affected KSU's pursuit of PF Michael Beasley. He seems intent on playing for coach Bob Huggins and has verbally committed to K-State, but he has pondered other options since his official visit. . . .

yeah, i totally get that it could be way better.

but, for all the bitching about a 2 hr drive through the scenic flint hills - it isn't hard to fly in.  and most recruits aren't pussies like beasley (scared of the dark too, iirc).  small plane, bfd.

it's no more difficult that connecting anywhere else.  1 bus ride or 3 mile long horizontal escalators, big diff.  majority of MCI connections are same terminal, airline.
