The real question is will they pretend that the Big XII actually presented them such an award.

It would be ironic if Perkins and Mangino presented it in person...

Oh, and I'm waiting for Bandwagon Creighton to chime in on this subject.

ku does this sort of thing.  NU is very much like ku on these matters.

You know the saying "act like you been there?"  Well, the ones who have "been there" (in this case) seem to be the ones who act like the biggest douche bags.

:dunno:

I would imagine so.  It adds to the great Nebraska football tradition.

The day your &@#%ing community college has something to brag about... then you can open that pussy you call a mouth.

Actually K-State was the first I heard of doing this. Next was Kansas, I would hope we wouldn't it's pretty lame.

it's lame sometimes, and okay others.

I don't blame any of the south teams for bragging about their co-titles.

ku in 2007 was lame because they lost on a neutral field. NU in 2008 would be the worst because they lost at home by 35.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I'm pretty sure NU would beat Mizzou if they played again.

I'm not sure if it's still hanging, but KSU used to have a 1999 co Big12 champs banner hanging on the east side of the Bill.   :runaway:

To all you bugeaters, a university is more than the sum of their sports teams.  Here are a few facts about the first land grant school:

Kansas State University ranks as one of the nation’s “cutting-edge schools,” according to a guidebook that pinpoints today’s hottest majors and the innovative colleges that offer them. K-State was the only school in the Big 12 to make the cut in Kaplan Publishing’s You Are Here: A Guide to Over 380 Colleges and Unlimited Paths to Your Future. Here’s a quick profile:

Quick facts
Colleges: Arts and sciences; engineering; business administration; education; agriculture; human ecology; architecture, planning, and design; technology and aviation (K-State at Salina); and veterinary medicine.

Graduate study: The Graduate School offers 65 masters degrees, 45 doctoral degrees and 22 graduate certificates in multiple disciplines across campus.

Students: More than 23,000 from all 50 states and more than 90 countries.

Degrees: 250+ undergraduate majors and options are available.

Financial aid: More than $175 million in scholarships, grants, loans, and work study is distributed each year.

Achievements
K-State ranks first nationally among state universities in its total of Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater, and Udall scholars since 1986. Our students have won more than $2 million in those five competitions and have earned K-State a place among the nation’s elite universities.

History
K-State got its start in 1858, when Bluemont Central College was founded and 53 students enrolled. Five years later K-State became the first college in America to be officially designated a land-grant school.

Big 12
K-State is in the Big 12 Conference of collegiate athletics. The conference is made up of 12 institutions, sponsors 21 sports, and encompasses seven states in its geographical footprint.

Kansas Regents institutions
K-State is a member of The Kansas Board of Regents, a nine-member body which governs the six state universities, and supervises and coordinates 19 community colleges, five technical colleges, six technical schools and a municipal university.

Peer universities
K-State's five official academic peers are determined by land-grant status, student population, and other factors: Colorado State University, Iowa State University, North Carolina State University, Oklahoma State University, Oregon State University.

I'm sure this "guidebook" is the best source of facts on the subject.

Truth is, Manhattan is a crappy place, with a crappy college.

fargo, if you really feel that Manhattan is a crappy place, with a crappy college, I'll agree to disagree with you.  I'll not stoop to the level of calling Lincoln a crappy place, nor will I call the University of Nebraska a crappy college, since doing this would be subjective on my part.

I just thought I'd put up some facts from K-State's web page.  Of course, these will put KSU in a good light.  If you have objective, official evidence to the contrary, I would challenge you produce that evidence and let the chips fall where it may.

NU's awesome tradition isn't even enough to get them a dec. stadium.  Worst stadium in the world, no contest.  There are still some roman amphitheatres still standing that are better than that craphole.

Nothing like a great stadium design where those sitting in the endzone can't see all of the endzone, and others only being able to see half the field.  What a monstrosity.

I mean, all that tradition and still the worst stadium in the world?  Must be some sort of humbling reminder or something.
