I'm about 4 seasons removed from the student section and I can honestly say that I always thought the F Bomb during that song was classless. Did I care enough to try to stop it? No. Do I try now? No. It doesn't make me lose any respect for anyone as I remember what it was like to be in college and be so unaware of those surrounding me.
I take solace in knowing that some day most of those rowdy guys in the student section will get married and eventually have children and bring them to the game. And at that point will they understand that saying "we're going to beat the F out of you", is not only unnecessary, it's not funny; It's not intimidating, It's not cool, and it's not only disrespectful to the opposing team, but to your fellow wildcat fans that want to introduce their children to something that you take pride in being a part of; just like several of your parents did when you were 5 years old. I'm sure most of you guys can remember a time that your parents would have been embarrassed to hear 10,000 people screaming Fuc# in unison as they had to explain to you that it was a bad word, and you shouldn't say it in 3rd grade class tomorrow.
Having said all that... Who cares, it is a football game, and I'll take my son to it knowing that I will have to explain to him that college kids are a little too care free at times. And I'll support that claim to him by reading all of the names listed in the newspaper of the kids that were arrested the night before.
It was only a matter of time that someone tried to turn a football game into a 3rd grade recital.
