sigh.

At this point in time this is the dream scenario I think.

MAYYYYYYYYYYBE Phil Bennett has learned what went wrong in his youth and can make a good HC.

His defenses were good, maybe a little too aggressive at times (I remember us getting torched on all out blitzes a lot).

I think he will be a good recruiter, he has the personality for it.  I can live with HCIW PB.

I cannot abide McCarney, Dimel, or M. Stoops.

In a way failing outside of a BCS school is giving me hope about Phil.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
Bennett is by far the worst HCIW you named.  Everyone else has at least tasted success as a HC.

my understanding is that the oc will also be the HC in Waiting and it is not Dimel. :ksu:

It sucks that we can't fill our assistant positions with winning head coaches.

When the assistants are going to take over when Old Balls retires (again) then it’s kind of important to hire a coach who has been successful….which you can't really do because those coaches haven't been fired.......and the hypocritical part of all of this is if Bill does, in fact, name a successor…..so what we’re saying is that this loser successor wasn’t good enough to be coach now, but will be in 2 years?

This isn’t like naming an assistant as a head coach like Mack or Alvarez did, they were at places for long periods of time and then handed it off.  Bill would essentially be saying that I’m here for a few years so you tards can feel comfortable, then I’ll hand it off to some guy who has sucked at being a HC before this.  bill should say he’s going to coach until he dies.

Bennett did have a strong defense when he was here 10 years ago.  The question you have to ask yourselves (and I;m just playing devil's advocate here) is can his DOD style defense handle the spread offenses?

The answer is obviously NO.  Just look at what Tech did to his defenses back in the day.

Not if it's a part of their contract or a verbal is reached with the HCIW as part of the deal.

That may be true.  I would hold off on believing that Bennett will be the successor though.  Also, you can't base his future on "just because he couldn't win at SMU".  There are obviously other factors to look at, and he even almost broke through at SMU.  This is sounding like retard NFL fans saying, "OMG we suck, the coach must be bad!!!"

You have been exceptionally positive as of late. What gives?  :flush:

The past three years we've bitched about the poor coaching at KSU.  Age aside, and yes it is a consideration, I can't think of a better more proven choice than Snyder to head up a program.  Bennett & Long would be very Snyderesque choices, he knows them both well and probably trusts them, they're proven commodities at least in their boxes.  Bennett may or may not be HC material but he's proven that he's a very solid DC.  Long may or may not be HC material but he had great success as an OC.  Whatever else might happen we'll see far better coached teams the next few years if it's Snyder, Bennett, & Long heading things up.

Realistically KSU doesn't have the bucks to hire away a successful BCS HC so it's unknowns or mid-major SLTH types.  This is probably a better option.

"Yeah, lets see if we can fill the staff with nothing but complete and utter losers."

I doubt you are an option for a position.
