You can't be racist and like basketball.
Granted, he's no Fred Peete, but I don't think he's as bad as everyone thinks.  From my ksf.com post:

Stewart:

8.99 pts./40 min
5.8 Asst/40 min
3.73 TO/40 min

Taybron:

10.86 pts/40 min
5.93 Asst/40 min
3.58 TO/40 min

I would also say that I feel like the offense is more aggressive overall when Taybron is in the game.  Plus, Taybron can dunk.  Does Taybron deserve the wrath of vicious KSU basketball fans?

    shame on you, non-believers
Those stats do surprise me. I think it's his demeanor on the court that irks a lot of fans. He seems so nonchalant when he f*cks up.

    The very best.
You are a fool. Stewart has 10 &@#%ing assists vs MU. He's much better.

How is being a fool treating you?
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

2 plays about the 10 minute mark of the first half vs ku.  He got absolutely schooled.

You're right though, he's not nearly as bad as he's touted though I do think he's a bit of an head case at times.  And I'll say it, he's a much better PG than Skyler Thomas night in and night out.

The ku game turned Thomas into an All Big 12 player that we're dumb enough not to play (I'll agree he should get more minutes) and Taybron into the guard version of Joe Leonard.

In Big 12 play Stewart has played how I expected, 4 assists per game and 4th in the league in A-TO ratio.  Taybron has struggled at times, and the split has shaken out about 25-15 which is what I expected.

Yep.  I figured that had a lot to do with it.  He wasn't ready.  For the sake of keeping "Best Cynic" status, I'm going to blame Wooly's weak non-conference scheduling for that stretch of play.

I don't really think this is about Taybron vs. Stewart as much as it is KSU fans vs. Taybron.  I think Taybron and Stewart should be on the floor more often together.  We all know that won't happen, though.

Who would you put at the 2?

Whoever doesn't bring the ball up.  They're both more than capable of playing the two.  It shouldn't matter, especially since all the positions in the flex are basically interchangeable.

We run the flex? Holy crap, I can hardly tell most of the time. That brings back memories of playing Manhattan High. God, they were so easy to scout.

Rusty = defender of Taybron. :)

For the record, I absolutely agree with your take on Taybron.  He isn't as bad as he's made out to be.  I do think he is a head case sometimes but skill-wise he isn't far from being Larry Reid.  However, competitiveness, coachability, etc aren't in Reid's league.  Reid had some talent, but he was a very good player b/c he wanted to be.

I think both our PGs hold it way too long at the top of the key. Swing the f*cker.

it is true that taybron isn't as bad as his it typically blamed for being.  however he has been undeniably poor.

the stewart/taybron comparative stats posted are misleading. although they appear fairly even, in reality stewart played horribly to start the season while taybron started decent.  as the season progressed stewart returned to the steady, if unspectacular, player we saw in '04-'05 while taybron has been horrible.

this difference is pretty clearly seen in the season long vs. conference only stats for each player.  taybron's conference performance suggests he is has been nearly as bad as fans think him to be recently.  it has NOT just been 2 possessions vs ku.
