dvdrw can be written on more than once but I don't think is as stable.  DVD+R is your run of the mill blank dvd that fits almost all formats.  Some dvd writers won't write to DVDRW.  Go with the DVD+R.

What sd said, and I have had compatibility issues with dvd rw. Wouldn't play on my dvd player.

do you have a dual layer drive (most new ones are)? Verbatim is a good brand.

DVD-RW is only better for transferring things from computer-to-computer in my mind.  I have seen no other good use for them as many players dont recognize them but computers do.  It's basically an "updated" floppy disc that can hold a crapton more.

Go with DVD+R

I would say the DL stands for dual layer, so you can use the DVD+R 8GB blanks.
