Seen at Kansas State’s open men’s basketball pickup game Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum:

Jermaine Maybank, a 6-foot-5 guard, playing with the Wildcats. It appears Maybank will fill one of the two available scholarships — if he is accepted into graduate school. No word on that yet. Maybank, from Bronx, N.Y., played at Independence, Kan., Community College before transferring to St. John’s.

Because he has graduated from St. John’s but has one year of eligibility left, Maybank was able to transfer to K-State, where he would be eligible to play this season. He averaged 1.2 points in 6.2 minutes.

Other notables: Cartier Martin, still indefinitely suspended, participated in the game. … Freshman Luis Colon, 6-10, showed he could be a physical force. … Jason Bennett, the 7-3 freshman, missed a couple of dunks. … Junior guard Blake Young is as athletic as advertised.
