Stoops: Manhattan memoriesFor OU coach Bob Stoops, Saturday marked a triumphant return to Manhattan, where he served as an assistant under Bill Snyder from 1989-95.AdvertisementAnd the trip also served up fond memories of that time.I do have special emotions here, Stoops said. I'm very fond of this place. It was a great time in my wife and I's life. I loved working with coach Snyder and all the people here.I still have great friends here that mean a lot to me. You don't spend seven years somewhere totally investing everything you have in trying to build it, and not care about it.Stoops and the retired Snyder met and chatted on the field before the game, recalling many of the good times building K-State up from ruins into a Big 12 contender. It was good to catch up and visit, Stoops said. We visited for a quite a while. I told him one of my favorite including national championships, Big 12 championships, whatever (memories) in my life is still the first win here, when we beat North Texas, coming from behind in the last minute to win. I'll never forget it.I never had been somewhere where you needed to win so bad. It helped get us started.
"Everything I'm about professionally and personally, good, bad or indifferent, I owe to here," Venables said. "There's nothing but good memories for me. It's a beautiful place, a different part of the country and one that you greatly miss.
I bet Stoops was friggin' p!ssed off at how Prince has wrecked what Snyder built as his team scored with ease.
Don't know if this has been posted already, but there was serious MHK love from Brent Venables, too.Quote"Everything I'm about professionally and personally, good, bad or indifferent, I owe to here," Venables said. There is no way you can convince me that BV's wouldn't be a vastly superior recruiter than Ron Prince is.You've got to have a baseline to "coach'm up" . . . there's no doubt in my mind that baseline under Venables would be much higher than what Prince is doing.

Mid major losers are overrated.

I grow sour on TT.When he hires their next OC (Provided he's still around) it will be Auburn's 11th coordinator in the last 6 years or so.

And let's be honest, Petrino and Borges were great hires, and he really didn't fire the last guy. He's been through quite a few DC's, too. Non-issue.

Non-issue.Just a vibe. Not all at that "hands on", plays favorites amongst coaches, "figurehead" football coaches don't work at schools like K-State.
