Remember when we had a shot at Schaeffer?

Would we be better off with Schaeffer starting right away, or Freeman on the bench for a year?

What does "better off" mean?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Short term Schaeffer.

Long term Freeman.

What does "better off" mean?

Opposite of worse off.

PW, do you think Freeman as a junior will be better than Schaeffer as a junior?  If KSU sucks for two more years, will we have decent talent surrounding Golden Boy?

Depends on the offense.

Schaeffer is incredible and would have been a perfect match for Snyder's offense and the college game.

But Freeman as a junior I think will be the all around better quarterback and better for our current system, Schaeffer wouldn't have been quite the right fit.

Freeman will develop into as good as quarterbacks get and play in the NFL, which will be a stretch for Schaeffer.

As long as Freeman has LaMark Brown and a few others to throw to, we should be fine.

So with this offense, I choose Freeman as a junior.

I only watched bits and pieces of the Ole Miss Memphis game but Schaeffer looked decent from what I saw for it being his first game at the D1 level in awhile.

When you have no O-line and the plays quickly become broken plays, the running/scrambling qb has the advantage.  i.e., when the Morman from Idaho was pulled and Roberson was put in against USC in Manhattan.  I wish we had Schaeffer right now with Freeman in the bullpen...

Good enough to start at Tennessee as a true freshman.

I don't know, Brent looked pretty small, I don't know how tall he is, but I think his height will be a hinderance to him.

He is fast and quick, but I don't see him being much of a passer.

Though as of right now, because of the line, his speed would be beneficial

I remember the game, don't remember who Tenn. played.  Schaffer started, but Ainge and he traded series.  I think Schaeffer even rushed for a TD, it would have been the opener two years ago.  I am gonna guess it was against UNLV, but I am totally pulling that out my ass

The point remains.  Schaeffer could start at freaking Tennessee on day one and Freeman can't beat out Dylan Meier.

Freeman is the best choice when compared to Meier (by far).

Schaeffer would be the best choice compared to Freeman (by a little).

If I remember correctly, there was a big controversy about Ainge and Schaeffer got the position because Ainge wasn't doing well.  Ainge then came out and did well.  You know, he might have started at Tennessee, but when he lost his job, he transferred.   Head case he became.

KSU wanted him, but the rumor was, Schaeffer's parents told Snyder that in order to come to KSU, he should receive some amenities.  Some had even said he wanted to be paid in cash.   Whatever it was, Snyder stopped recruiting him after his visit.   Schaeffer went to Tennessee, started and lost his position, then transferred when it was clear, he wasn't going to start.

You can look at this any way you want to, but the bottom line is, that Schaeffer's talent would have done well here, had his head been on straight.  It's clear that 4 star kid out of high school with visions playing in big time college football got to his head.  I'm not sure that Prince would have taken him either.

If we're playing these games...

Schaeffer would have never seen the field because IMHO Vince Young was better.
