Clemson has better local population to recruit from, but they also have a lot more competition.

It's all relative . . .

They're showing commits from 3 4 stars, and 1 3 star right from their own backyard.

27 Prospects from SC have already committed to BCS schools.

Not sure if you're trying to argue with me, but my point is that every school in the ACC enjoys similar recruiting territory.

No . . . just saying that it's an area that can produce enough for lots of schools.

More competition than NU, ku, MU, ISU, OSU, OU, CU, CSU, Iowa?  Maybe a few more, but then they have probably eight times more population and ten times the number of big time recruits in their "area of influence".  All the above teams are competing over chicken bones....Clemson is competing over chunks of prime rib.
Bowden should have been fired....he's got no excuse not to have been fairly regularly competing for ACC championships.  On the other hand, it could be argued that Prince is delivering the records an objective observer would expect for a school with KSU's "assets" and demographics.
Even if Clemson doesnn't offer, it would be folly for Patterson to take the KSU job.....a suicide mission.  It would take him three years to dig out of the recruiting hole, and by then KSU would be long gone from any luster of the Snyder glory years.  But, at least the fan base might be even more realistic by then.

All ACC (and local SEC) schools are in the same boat, though.  Just like All Big 12 North schools are in basically the same boat.  TB was about an average recruiter in the ACC.  Maybe slightly above average.

Nobody expects K-State to land 4 or 5 stars across the board.  But it's not unreasonable to expect a coach who was given an extremely solid foundation, nice facilities, and plenty of funding to be recruiting on a higher level than what Ron Prince is doing.   All K-State fans expect K-State to have a handful of "diamond in the rough" kids in every recruiting class (but not seemingly one after the other), we expect a slightly higher number (but sill reasonable) of Juco signees in every recruiting class (but not 19 or 20, and not taking kids who can't make their respective Juco team), we expect initial struggles from a new coaching staff when they first arrive (but we expect that they should be moving "upmarket" to a degree by their 3rd recruiting class and so far it's highly debatable if that's happening).
