It's gonna get worse before it gets better.  But not nearly as bad as some are predicting.

Depends on who gets elected.  Could be the 30s all over again if politicians make stupid decisions like they did back then.

Higher vs lower taxes; more vs less regulation; free trade vs protectionism.  It's hardly meaningless.

    Wait...what?
Nope.  Excellent opp. for youngsters to buy some high quality stocks at a deep discount.  Young prof.'s with some extra cash laying around could go a long ways toward securing their retirement with some well-placed stock buys pretty soon.  Prob. wait a little while yet, but there's some nice $$$ to be made.

d00d, I'm in my 20s but it's scary nonetheless. And don't fool yourself into trying to time the market.  I remember Jeffy (not to pick on him) saying a couple months ago "buy, buy, buy" when he thought the bottom was here.  I would be the last person you would have to explain bottom indicators to fwiw :peek: .  Scary nonetheless.

If one candidate wins in November the worst will be over; if the other wins much worse lies ahead.  But in a democratic nation we get the government we deserve.   :flush:

I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's plenty of $$$ to be made no matter who wins but I'd rather invest in positives than bet on negatives.  Otherwise it's mostly irrelevant who's in office.

A depression would work well for me.  Have saved up money, could invest in very cheap securities and ride them on their way back up.

I was about 90% sure I was going to do it a year ago, even met with a New Zealander who recruits people to move to New Zealand and do what I do about a year ago. Still have his card in my wallet. Bought books, researched where we wanted to live, prices, how much cars are, how much it costs to bring a pet over, etc.

Then the wife got pregnant, sweet job opened up in MHK.......

If you are fairly young and have a college degree, New Zealand will let you in. Especially people w/ specialties like teachers.

They say it will be recession.

I want to see what happens to credit with new rules in place.

Most of this fear is due to credit.

We shouldn't have bailed out these crooked greedy companies.  Just made credit liquid again.

And I'd still buy buy buy.  By the time I retire, it'll be higher that where I bought then and higher than where I am buying now.  You can thank me for not allowing the stock market to completely tank, by continuing to contribute to the cause.

Good things for me were...
1-they speak english
2-they don't hate americans
3-their govt would have let me in and allowed me to work
4-weather, outdoorsy stuff, beach, mountains/skiing, hiking, camping, etc.

Check out this website. Pretty interactive and gives you a decent layout of the north and south islands. Places I liked were Nelson/Marlborough on the south island and Hawkes Bay/Napier on the north. They are the two big wine growing regions...lot's of sun and located right on the ocean. Also only a couple hours drive during the winter to ski if you wanted.
