Cats mutilated in Lawrence
A Lawrence resident this week found his cat gutted and mutilated in his back yard in what authorities say is the third such case in about three weeks.

All were found in the 3200 block of West Ninth Street, said Midge Grinstead, Lawrence Humane Society executive director. A severed cat’s head also was found recently in a nearby park.

She speculated that the killer was someone in the neighborhood who had a grudge against cats. The investigation continues.
