“We’re going to have a starter and a backup. That’s Josh’s role, to be the backup,” Prince said Monday on the Big 12 Conference teleconference.

“We felt in our conversation as a staff, we thought that Dylan just has all the right stuff,” Prince said. “His leadership, and his intangibles and his ability to grasp what’s going on … he really did a terrific job leading the team. We felt both quarterbacks were very capable.”

“Josh is going to have a very bright future,” Prince said. “It’s remarkable what he’s been able to do as a freshman, particularly coming in in the spring. When the opportunity comes, and we can get (Freeman) into some games, we will do that.”

I'm unclear as to Redshirt rules but he's not redshirting this year is he?  If not and he doesn't play that's a freaking shame.

STRIKE FIRST. STRIKE HARD. NO MERCY
I don't know the rules too well either - but I think if he doesn't play a single snap he can use the year as a redshirt.

It won't happen though - he will play some on saturday.

Forget about the whole redshirt thing.  It's not going to happen... nor would it have happened if we had 10 guys at the QB spot.
