    Not A Basketball Player
I was just thinking about how Yoga would be a good thing to get into. First start off in your home with a dvd and then once you were a good enough move into classes. Seems like a good excersise for lazier people like me. Plus, farting is not an issue with me because of my elite stomach.

P.S. Yoga Like Abana made this thread a bitch to find.

    Powertard Un-approved
Messed with it a little on the Wii.  Kinda boring, but I can see how it would help with balance and flexibility.

you need to do some heavier cardio if you want to lose any weight, though.  But not much.

    Knows What Brent Did...
Used to do a joint yoga/pilates class at the gym when I was in shape. Only dude in the class. A little weird, but you get used to it. Then got busy at work and gained 20 lbs. Not in "yoga" shape. At least not "public" yoga. Back to the ellipticals.
“My arm gets tired from doing this,” said coach Bill Snyder, waving his arm.

I'm not sure why, but I have zero interest in doing yoga.  (And I was a regular viewer of Gossip Girl, so it's not as though I'm worried about only doing manly things.)  Now that I think about it, my distaste for yoga may stem from finding it physically painful to be around "holistic"-type girls for more than 30 seconds.  I can't stand that mystical garbage.

Personally, I've started swimming sometimes instead of running to rest my joints.

It doesn't have to be like that.  Most classes I've taken are just regular people.  At worst you say "Namaste" at the end.  The breathing stuff is very useful, IMO.

You definitely want to do the nap at the end.  I've been told it's when you burn the most calories.

I have been practicing Yoga for a while now, and am eventually going to get my certificate to teach it.

I would recommend going to a class, there are tons of hot chicks, and you get to see them bend all around and you can get some nice cleavage looks, among other things.  This alone is a great reason to go..

The benefits of Spirit, Mind and Body are why I do it..

Anyways, all the retards on this board think it is "hippie" or "fudgepacking"..etc know nothing of what they are talking about.  Yoga is an ancient practice, its not "New Age" (although it is bastardized by degenerate hippies). It is used to integrate and develop unity and harmony between mind, body, and spirit.

Yoga as we generally use the term today describes a vast and wide-ranging collection of several different spiritual techniques and disciplines.  Much like the word "aerobics" the term “Yoga” is very broad and encompassing and can describe many different practices.

The most common "mainstream" type of Yoga practice is Asana poses.  Asana poses involve the integration of mind and body through physical activity. It is intended primarily to restore and maintain a practitioner's well-being, improving the body's flexibility and vitality.

There is also a common misconception that Yoga is rooted in Hinduism or Buddhism; on the contrary, Hinduism’s and Buddhism’s religious structures evolved much later and incorporated some of the practices of Yoga. Its philosophy speaks to universal truths that can be incorporated within any belief system.

People have belief systems regarding Yoga based on little or no experience with it..

My advice to a fellow EMAW about Yoga (all the h8ers can go to hell):

Incorporate this in your practice: Niyama-  meaning “observance” or “self” observance. There are five basic guidelines regarding the individual:
Saucha: Cleanliness- Don't be a dirty hippie. Be groomed.
Santosa: Contentment- Enjoy life and look at it with optimism.
Tapas: Sustained practice- Get in a solid routine and don't miss.
                     Svadhyaya: Self Study
                     Isvara pranidhana: Surrender to God

Especially sustained practice, make it a discipline to do it, and you will benefit the most. Also breath work is really important.  Reasarch Patanjali as well.....

i'm sure your future yoga students will appreciate their teacher copping cheap looks during the class he is instructing. wow. just wow. maybe you should spend more time on Svadhyaya and less time trying to find out what color the g string is on the eighteen year old in the third row.

    The very best.
rusty, why don't you just play basketball for a workout? jfc.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I do - play 3 times a week.  I'm pretty horrible, but I love it.  Started when it got too cold to bike to work.  I eased into it and my joints got stronger the more I played.  Not really doing much yoga any more because of schedule.

To every time there is a season..

There is a time for Svadhyaya, and a time for gawking at the hotties in class.

I must say Yoga has exellent ratios, 17 chicks and 2 dudes in my current class.  My current teacher is smokin' hot, she is

Yoga is for the ugly chicks who can't compete with the hotties on the elliptical and treadmills.
