A staff member who was also on Snyder's staff (think broadly in terms of "staff" so you don't get caught up in thinking it's Mo, because it ain't Mo <<>>) spoke VERY highly of the work this coaching staff is doing.

Compared Snyder's work ethic and the hours put in by the prior staff to this staff working just as hard, but working smarter.

Said it was unbelivable how the player/coach relationships have clicked.

Meir and Freeman were light years ahead of Everidge in this system.

Defense is incredibly fast.

The one North team that scares the staff the most is ISU.

Did NOT comment on Prince's being "into that kind of stuff" when it came to reading books.

Is this staff member an actual football coach?? If so I'd ask them why they are scared of the clones so much.  To be honest their defense has been hit HARD by injuries and suspensions to starters.  Sure Meyer and their receivers are good, but I think Hicks blows IMO and their defense won't be getting stops.  There are bigger fish to fry, but lets do things game by game and take care of business.

My guess too if they're worried about ISU.  Their offense is going to be the only reason they have a good season.  Should be the best in the north, probably the third best in the Big XII (Behind UT and TTU, obviously)

Still not sure how well Hawk's spread offense will work at Colorado this year.  It usually puts up a lot of points..But there's not a lot there for him to work with right now, and it's a radical change from what they used to run.

Glad to see they're not buying into the NU hype.  No real running game, and a passing game that ranked got their offense ranked dead last in the big xii (not the north, but the big xii overall.)  Their defense will be legit according to CFN, about as legit as it was last year when it allowed ku to hang 40 on em.

I was really loving the post especially when you talked about how smart they coached.  but then, you lost me when you said the thing about this staff being the most scared about ISU.  If that's the case then they are far from being to smart.  ISU will not finish in the top 3.  They have one maybe 2 guys on defense that are any good, one is a DB one is a lineman named Curvey, and that's it.  The 2 biggest threats  this year will be Missouri and Nebraska.  Missouri ha a pretty good rb waiting to  make a splash like our own james johnson, their o-line is decent, their wr's are pretty good, their tight ends are exceptional and that little chase daniels can really sling the ball around.  His stats for spring and fall camp are very impressive,  completion rate is in the low 70's.  Their offense should put up atleast 30 points a game, it isn't great, but it's better than average.  Their d-line was just named into the top 10 in the nation.

and then theres nebraska, most peoples pick.

If our smart staff is looking at ISU being harder to beat than either of these 2 then I am worried about the basic competancy of this staff.

ISU also won't have that great of an offense.  they have Stevie Hicks who is slow and isn't a threat to make a big play ever, he is always getting hurt.  Their wr, Blythe is overated.  he got like 70% of his yards last year vs 3 teams, shut down in the other games pretty much.  The only reason the qb gets hype is because right now their isn't alot of qb's to hype.  CU gets a new starting qb, we do, ou does, tex does, mizzou and the list goes on and on.  by the time the year is over you will be saying ISU who?

Some of you obviously haven't viewed the last five quarters of play against ISU over the past two seasons.

Yes, they've lost folks on defense, but their offense is going into their third year of playing together.  Combine a tall receiver, shifty QB, experienced OL with a big back with dreadlocks and you have a pretty salty offense.

It's not so much how ISU has pi$$ed down their legs against other teams, but the sad fact is that they've toyed with K-State during the past five quarters of play against the Cats.

Let me try one more time.  It's not what ISU has done (or not done) to other teams.  It's what they've done to K-State and K-State has allowed them to do in the past five quarters of play.

- 73 points scored by ISU
- 28 of those unanswred, in the 4th quarter in Manhattan in 2004

Their offensive personnel returns pretty much intact from the previous two seasons.  Their injuries / personnel losses are on defense.

K-State has bombed way more against ISU in the past two years than any other team in the North... way more.   

I don't get it, because McCarney's teams know how to choke and have done so in a big way in the past against K-State and it is ISU.  But the reality is that their offense has kicked K-State's A$$ the past two years / 5 quarters.  Sadly, they have K-State's number right now.

ofcourse it did.  it pains me to know that our coaches aren't doing their homework on who is the most tough of our opponets.  I could really give 2 craps about what ISU did last year to us, alot can happen in 12 months and alot of thingsa happened to ISU and they all were bad in terms of team personel.  If we lose to ISU this year it will be a bigger insult than losing to baylor and the whole lot of these coaches should be fired before they reach the locker room

Very true that da clones have owned us of late and maybe they match up well against us.  ISU possess good coaches and there could be psychological factors at work too.  Once a team stops playing scared and knows they can not only bang on, but dominate you then things can get hairy.  Plus playing in Ames is not imtimidating, but quite weird sometimes I hate that craphole.
