of black people overcoming the evil white man in the 1950s/60s to be accepted in society?  And of course we always have to have the Stars and Bars featured prominently in the cinematography, because all white Southerners are inherently racist.

Glory Road
Remember the Titans
The Great Debators
Express or whatever the new movie is

I remember when "Glory Road" came out how it was billed as a "Cinderella sports story" and how the 1966 title game was a "huge upset".  Really.  Since when is five black guys beating five white guys at the game of basketball an "upset".  Tell me who couldn't see that coming, even in 1966.

I mean, isn't it getting old already?  Hell, a black dude is about to be elected president.

I got a sneak showing of the Express the other day.  Its really quite good.  Overcoming is only part of the story.  It doesn't end with him winning the Heisman.

Wasn't there one with swimmers too?

Damn, you're right.  I totally forgot about that one.  I can't remember what it's called though.

Also, did anyone else notice on Glory Road that it demonized being racist against black people, and then spent half the movie making "comedy" out of said victimized black players making fun of Mexicans?  I was sort of appalled.

Also, it is absolutely required that there is some sort of fun-loving montage set to a cheery '60s song that illustrates the black and white people coming together.   :ku:  I like sports stories, I'm just tired of the flippin' race angle all the time.

There's not one in the Express.

I'm sick of every cartoon being "hey look! anthropomorphic animals leave home and get involved in hijinx!"

But back on topic, yeah I agree with you.  I wish Disney would stop making movies about black ppl.

yeah. i'm sick of learning about human accomplishment and will. can't someone just make a movie about where the white man wins and shows them black people who is born as a better person.  :jerkoff:

seriously what is wrong with you people. and by you people i mean you people. those are like maybe 100 movies  out of 1,000,000 that have been major productions concentrating on a topic as big as oppression and racism.

GMAFB and get over yourself.

You GMAFB.  I will happily watch an actual documentary on the History Channel.  A cutesy PG Disney movie that craps all over real history by changing the story and making vast generalizations, just to make money, is a pile of trash.

White people are the ones making the movies.

Seriously, where was that anywhere in my subject?  Anybody who makes a mockery out of history to make a buck can suck a big fat one.

Yeah? Are you also getting tired of movies that:

1. Show women working outside of the house?
2. Have homosexuals in any role that isn't comic relief?
3. Show latinos living with only one family per household?
4. Have asian characters that are: 1. not martial arts experts   2. not nerdy math wizzes.  3. played by actual asians?
5. Have non-Christians portrayed as humans, rather than the morality bankrupted evil demons that they are?
6. Sober Indians?
