Kansas State entered the penultimate month on the calendar with a 5-3 record, a victory over Texas and narrow losses to Auburn, Kansas and Oklahoma State. A second consecutive bowl trip was attainable with two more victories.

Somebody in the big 12 offices busted out the thesaurus
