After going 0-15 to start his career, Cliff Pastornicky drives in Joe Simpson and Don Slaught with his 3-run 7th inning home run to give the Royals a 4-2 lead over the Mariners. After which he was taken out of the game for defensive replacement Greg Pryor. Bill Castro picked up the win, which would turn out to be the last of his 10-year major league career. Mike Armstrong closed out the game in the 9th for a save. The original pitching matchup was Matt Young for Seattle versus Keith Creel for the Royals.
Pastornicky would go on to record hits in his next 3 games, including his second and final home run two days later against Oakland, again helping the Royals to a 4-2 win. He would make his final major league appearance on June 27 as a defensive replacement, ending a major league career of 32 AB's in 10 games over 14 days.
