I can't figure it out.  He gets blasted by pretty much all of the fans in the big 12, especially those in the North but yet, when he loses a couple qb's he reloads so fast and with such talent that I can't figure out what the recruits are thinking.  Here is my examples folks.  They lost beck, for whatever reason, I don't know.  Then, within 3 days they had a commit from a former elite 11 qb that is a juco transfer.  This Juco is not only a pretty good qb, but he is already in Lincoln, on the team and practicing with 3 years to play 3.  Now, you can say, well they just got lucky, this kid wanted to play 1a ball and thought Lincoln a good spot, ok whatever.

Now, the other shoe drops.  I like to spy a little on my big red enemies and I was shocked to see their board going strong like a ant hill that just got stepped on.  So what the f*ck is all the fuss about?  turns out it looks like they are getting a first round NFL qb draft pick, by the name of Keller to come to lincoln to sit out this year and probaly start in 07.  The only weakness as far as I can tell for that 07 team was qb.  After this year, the 06 year they lose taylor and don't really have anyone to take over for him since we took freeman from them, and then just like that, they fix that problem with getting one of the better pro style qb's in the nation to play for them.  A guy that put up 350 yards vs usc and nearly 500 vs LSU.  I don't know all the details about this keller kid cause I can't read the premium content but it looks like he was named the starter, then the backup complained that if he started he was quitting and they took away the #1 gig from keller and he quit.

my question is this.  how the hell can a guy who everyone claims is a fool go from having absolutely having almost no options at qb for the 07 year to having one of the best qb situations in the big 12 in a period of about 10 days?  are recruits seeing something I/we don't or is it luck :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
just wondering.

Recruiting isn't everything Dr. Suess. Just look at ku bball. Callahan is a douche and no amount of recruits will change his douche baggery.

    The very best.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

my other question would be.  How come KSU didn't go after a mid term juco to fill a vacant QB slot instead of giving a schol to a kid who can't even throw for 6 or so more weeks?

If Nebraska has any kind of success this year look for OU or CU type NCAA violation.  Simple fact is that every program is dirty... and they only get caught when the spotlight is on them.

If he didn't have the traditional name of Nebraska behind him, he wouldn't be able to land anyone.  That's his trump card.

If that's the best advice you can give, then I wouldn't seek your service anyway....

but...back to topic....speaking of sucking....I just don't understand why Nebraska fans think Callahan is so great.  If he were our coach, I wouldn't care to support him much either.  I'd still support the players and team, but I wouldn't be happy about having him.  As a Raider fan, it was quite apparent the dude didn't have a damn clue was he was doing as a coach.  Any time you have a mild mannered veteran like Tim Brown wanting to kick your bung, you know there are problems.  NU fans so badly want to get back on top, they are becoming dillusional.  They are getting a lot of stroking, but not much to show for it  :jerkoff:  Soon enough, the hype machine will break down and the reality will come crashing down.  On to the next coach...

Tim Brown, wasn't he the guy that got arrested for taking a leak in public? and then after he was a raider went to the buccs, got cut from the bucs and blasted gruden in the media?    either way, I wouldn't put much stock into what timmy brown had to say.  Ofcourse I don't really pay much attention to pro football, just curious, how have the raiders rebounded since Callahan has been gone?

Husker fans are so desperate to be back in the Top 10 that everytime something like this comes out, you just see them in an uproar, proclaiming the dominance of TO is back.

It's very entertaining.

Pissing in public?  Man, that should be a felony!  Yeah, none of us have EVER done that   Only difference is, he got caught.  Such a HUGE violation.  It doesn't tarnish his character, nor his ability as a football player and leader.

Gruden was the one that put that team together, not Callahan.  It only took a little over a season for him to tear apart the chemistry and have a mutiny on his hands.  Calling your team "idiots" is a BRILLIANT way to motivate them, especially when you don't know what the hell you're doing as it is.

The Raiders haven't done very well, you are correct, but it's due to lack of coaching, which has been their problem since Gruden left.

Care to make any other awesome points about your GREAT coach?

how come you failed to mention his public outburts against gruden after gruden cut him?  better find another charecter referance then.  as for calling the raiders stupid, you could be talking about warren sapp, he also made the same comment about his fellow teamates more recently.

Warren Sapp is an idiot as well.  I've never liked Sapp, nor been that impressed with him.  Regardless, it's one thing for your peer to say something to you, as opposed to a coach.  See, here's the thing.....Parcells has made derogatory comments to certain players in the press, but it was in an effort to motivate them, and he has earned that respect.  He has proven himself as a Super Bowl champion coach, and someone that can actually coach.  He's turned a few teams around, so he's proven.  Slashahan is not.  He did not earn the right to call his team idiots.

As for Tim Brown, he's an umpteen year veteran that is considered one of the greatest WR's of all time.  He's earned his keep a bit as well, you see.  If Gruden and Brown did not respect one another, they wouldn't have reunited shortly after being together in Oakland.  I'd like to see your source for the bashing of Gruden, as I don't recall seeing that.  Here's a blog that Gruden wrote while he was head coach in Oakland, with comments about Tim:

There are a lot of common denominators between Tim, Jerry, and the receivers I mentioned above. They learn easily. They have great instincts for the game, the ability to feel rotations and be aware of what is happening around them.

They're all smart, hard-working guys. You don't play 13 years or more without being a high-caliber, quality person who is a great worker -- someone who works year-round to try and duplicate what you did the year before.

I knew on some level that Tim Brown was an outstanding player, but I didn't truly appreciate him until I saw him on a daily basis when I came to the Raiders in 1998.

I remember one game in my second year here against the New York Jets. We were down 20-3 late in the third quarter and we had a play off short motion where Tim runs a square out and then jumps inside if the defensive back is aggressive.

It'd been a hot day, we're out there in those black jerseys, and behind by 17 points. We run the play and Tim jumps outside, then slips inside, catches the pass, cuts back outside and away from (Jets safety) Victor Green, and runs all the way for a touchdown.

It was a 45-yard play, and all of a sudden we're back in the game. We came back to win 24-23. I remember looking at the stat sheet after the game -- he'd caught 11 passes for 190 yards, his best yardage day ever -- and thinking, man, this is a special player.

To put it mildly, I don't think he gets the credit he deserves. He's had different head coaches, quarterbacks, offensive coordinators, systems, and snap counts, yet he somehow has strung together eight consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

To stay in the shape he does, to deliver and keep delivering, has been truly amazing. He might be as good now as he ever has been. He helped get us rolling in our 38-28 victory against Denver on Monday night with four catches on our first drive, and he finished with nine receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

His ability to learn and apply new ideas, formations and theories might be unmatched by any player I've ever seen.

The way I describe Jerry is an every-down football player. He's the greatest finisher of all time, and he's going to get to full speed right now, whether he's the primary or secondary receiver. He's going to put pressure on you, and if he's not doing things exactly right, he's going to take it very personally and be harder on himself than any coach could be.

Tim has been here a long time, and his role in tutoring the younger receivers is unbelievable. He'll go out of his way to give insight and assistance.

Sounds like a leader to me.

I knew what you meant.   I called it a safety play because it resulted in a safety.  Not the same play that Callahan thought it would be because his safety outlet never made it out of the endzone.

Either way, your example was worth.. 2 points.
