Serious Olympic Soccer Question

Why doesn't the USA's Mens Olympic Team have all of it's "good" players on it? Donovan, Johnson, Ching, Howard, etc.?
Is the Olympics considered a second tier tourney in soccer so they take their B-Team?

Just curious if anyone knows, TIA.

in the olympics u have to use like a U21 team (don't kno the exact number but something like that) and then u are aloud i belive 3 players over that age

It is U-23 with 3 allowances for over 23 players.

Must be IOC, FIFA doesn't do Olympics.

there is an age limit in gymnastics. all contestants must be over 16.
