I am thinking of starting a scooter gang...or at least some loose association of scooter enthusiasts.  pwrcat1 has one, and I thought someone else on here had one as well...

OT:  how's the scoot runnin'??  i got mine jimmyrigged like a gd dragster!

Mine is doing well for a 50cc.  I upgraded the transmission...very good take off and hill performance for a little scoot.

I would like to get one but the season of usibility is short in Omaha.  I had a group of friends in college (rich families) who just up and bought about 5 of them one day.  They had a pretty kick ass scooter gang going for a while.  Hilarious when they all pulled up to the bar in a row and parked them dismounting in unison.  I was uber-envious being poor and unable to afford to scoot.

I know, and I would if I lived somewhere warm.  The reliably usable season of scootin' would only be about 6 months here  :frown:  Should have gotten one in college though for sure since I could have walked everywhere in cold weather.  Also, WTF Manhattan!  Where'r the busses!?  Busses in cold weather would def. have made scootin the prefered method of trans.

Helmet?  I would have one.  And leather gloves.  Do you have to mix the oil with the gas when you fill them up?  LOFL just jokin' bros.  Seriously though, what color is the best?  I would guess black (KSU color) and would get one with mirrors that stuck way out to either side for maximum see behind'me'ness.

You ever run one without the oil?  It's like SUPER HIGH POWERED until it craps out after a few hours.  Do that and then you won't even have to pretend plus you will be like king weed whacker guy while it's tearing ass.

I bought mine used, so I didn't really choose the color, per se...and have a yellow one.  Yellow is the most visible color, so it is both safe and a pussy magnet.

If we formed a gang, we'd probably have to get leather jackets.   We could see if Cafe Press could add leather jackets to the DC Assault lineup.

Actually, I am thinking about selling my 50cc scooter and getting a bigger one.  I have an unquenchable scooter thirst now.  Anyone want to buy a super fast 50cc on the cheap?

Can it be infiltrated by outsiders?   Maybe I should haul mine up there on football weekends and race for pinks.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
A block down the street there's a guy that's, like, a scooter mechanic, and I think a president of a scooter club or something.

Not like Vespa scooters, but like frame-engine-wheels scooters.  They have rallies Sunday evenings.  It's, dare I say, badass.

The mafia is a tight knit group. It cannot be infiltrated. However, other groups are welcome. The mafia would appreciate some sort of scooter-rivalry. Racing for pinks? Could be arranged. The mafia members love the flirt with the law. Actually most just have mo-peds due to DUIs

That is pretty badass.  Needs a basket though for grocery/beer trips.  The trunk on the back doesn't look like it could hold more than 2 boxes of hot pockets.

Ya, I am getting rid of the trunk on the back and replacing it was a large basket milk crate thing.  The storage under the seat can hold a traditional 12 pack.  It's those new fangled long fridge 12 packs that get you.

My favorite modification was putting in a low-tone car horn.  Really commands respect on the road.

What are you wanting to sell this for?

I paid $750 for it, when it had 44km on it from a buddy's dad in the spring.  Has less than 500km on it now.  I put $200 worth of transmission components on it (dr. pulley roller weights, kevlar belt, dr. pulley HIT clutch), but dinged the plastic a bit next to the right handle grip (hit it on the damn garage backing out, just cosmetic and can be easily replaced).

I'd like to get $800 out of it after the upgrades.  It runs like nails.  Most 50ccs won't do more than 35.  This one, a Meitian (they sell them at scootertronics.com) will easily do 40+ and gets to 30 really, really quick.  If you know KC, I commute to work down Ward Parkway and never hold up traffic, usually I am buzzing by the cars.  You don't need a motorcyle license for it, but you will need to tag it and get $100 a year liability insurance in Kansas...which is no big deal.

Actually my step father just bought one at an auction about two months ago and he uses it to putter around when they go camping, so I've never ridden it yet and can't say how fast it goes.  I'll have to ask.   It is cool looking (just like the one in the pic), but doubt they have much in the way of horsepower.

What does the basket/milk crate upgrade option cost?  How many MPGs?  How much do you weigh?

will we have leather jackets?
can i suggest you check out pleather jackets?  can't really tell a difference between them and the leather type and they're much cheaper.  there's also the leatherette option, either will allow you to look great while at the same time not sacrificing a cow to make your clothing<--very scooterish to want peace/not kill stuff type thing to do.

you guys should consider contacting your local KATPAK militia and seeing if you could just piggyback off of their membership - in terms of gang building it'd give you an membership bump from the "get-go".  also, i'm sure they'd love having a fleet of armed scooter members for when times are in need of quick agile members.  (always LOL!     )

anyone with questions feel free to ask them here.   thanks and keep up the great leather discusion.

The milk crate thing won't cost much of anything...literally just put a milk crate on the back.  When you remove that rear trunk thing there is a chrome metal luggage rack...just bungie cord or plastic zip tie a crate on.

It gets 85mpg.  The gas tank is less than 2 gallons.  I usually fill it up once every 10 days or so.   I weigh 195.  If you are lighter the top end will be a bit better, but with the clutch I put on it the thing will still accelerate like a beast if you are heavier.  http://www.unionmaterial.com/Hitclutch-19.htm
