It will suck.  While you could replace almost all the human characters without problem, you would never be able to replace the Sleestak or Cha ka.  They were soooooo bad that they were actually good.

This is the last attempt I remember.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWCs5j6ghFI&feature=related  A Japanese dubbed theme song to it, kind of funny.  But really there is no way to make a serious or good movie with this plot.  I thought the same thing about Transformers and was wrong, but I'm sticking to my guns on this one.  Terrible idea.
