Vote as much as you want folks, let's have a good old fashioned deli meat popularity contest.  Battle of the meats.  This poll will be up for 14 days and I want you to be as honest as possible when responding.  Please don't make up false answers or try to rig the poll, those who violate the rule will be banned from the site for 2 years.

Thanks and here's to wishing you and yours happy sandwiching as we enter Sandwich Appreciation Month.   ;)

as a former employee of a sandwich shop i consider myself to have an extensive history with deli meats.

oven roasted chicken is by far the best white meat. however if the roast beef is high quality it is tough to beat. then again you left out corned beef, and pastrami. it all depends on the use of the meat though. i would say overall, the ORC is the tops. plus it can be healthy. :cyclist:

If you created a "most delicious food in general" thread I would say black forest ham.  This is a no brainer people.

it was an italian with everything on it. everything. every sauce that we had. on top of a whole one of those the dude would eat a half chicken parm and 2 cookies. and a large dp to top it all off. this was his lunch, and he would eat it about 2 times a week. also, the dude never wore a shirt whenever i delivered it to him. he was a large fella.

I just got done with a 3 month stint at the deli at the new Topeka Hy-Vee. 3rd generation delicatessen in my family.

Anyways, cappicola works w/ prosciutto, genoa salami, and provolone cheese...excellent sandwich.

I love cappicola but for an every day deli meat I like italian style roast beef, sun dried tomato turkey, cajun turkey, or extra rare roast beef.

Party Time Ham :lick:
Pfanastiel meats are kind of nasty.  They were the only meats we had that had MSG in them.  They also tasted very plain and meh.

Boar's head is good, it's the Dillons version of Hy-Vee's "Dilusso".  You can tell if it's good stuff if you get the grainy texture to it, and not the pressed, gelatin like consistency of the generic brands or willowbrook farms.  BH and Dilusso are both "all muscle" meats, which that they don't add gluten and artificial flavors or preservatives.  But yeah, always get the premium meats..they kick the others ass so much.

boars head isn't a dillons owned brand if that's what you're meaning, it's its own company but thanks for the other meat data.

I believe Boars Head is Kroger exclusive, though.  DiLusso is HyVee exclusive, but it is a division of HORMEL foods.  That's what I meant.

Ah..well, perhaps i'm mistaken.  In Topeka all we have is Wal-Mart, Dillons (Kroger) and Hy-Vee.  Give DiLusso a try from Hy-Vee.
