Or at least a bit of involuntary servitude.  Any of you rocket scientists that support him care to comment?   :billypopcorn:

    ANGRY AS F*CK
You're not very bright, are you?

Obama has said from the beginning of his campaign that he believes young people should get involved in SOMETHING and serve their community...whether it is community service, etc...to take more pride in where they live.  Reasonable idea, yes?

You're reaching, man.  I know I'm taking the bait and giving you attention in a lot of your threads, but you really need a new hobby or something.

Not really I mean the media crys and complains get more involved with politics heck even puff daddy made famous vote or die MF so it seems to me that Arizonacat as bias as he may be is just informing you about the plans that democratic nominees have if they are elected to office. Which by the way Barack's minister and the way he wavers all the time actually earned some other moran my vote.

And perhaps he'll identify his spiffy new youth corps with some sort of symbol?  Armbands maybe?  Decorated perhaps with an old Hindu symbol.  Just for good luck y'know ....

Unless you're flat broke I'd recommend a large tub of K-Y as well.

Not a reasonable idea, more like a utopian view.   While it's admirable, it's not practical to force kids into community service when the vast majority could care less.

Making kids do community service for the sake of a school to get more money isn't very smart.  Sorry, just another in a series of dumbass Obama failings.

Promising to be the next to attempt to implement a utopian ideal when 100,000,000+ died during the last century as a direct result of attempts to implement utopian ideals is most certainly NOT an "admirable" trait.

If people weren't taxed so much and had HALF their earnings taken by the gov then there might be some more help to 'help'(defined as $$$ to poor).

The old addage, "If you want less of something tax it and if you want more of somethin subsidize it," is absolutely accurate.  We tax work & productivity in this country while subsidizing laziness, stupidity, and sloth.  It's a wonder the whole place hasn't gone to hell in a handbasket much sooner.

Obama wants to force college students to spend 100 hrs/yr doing community service (free of charge), while he continues you tax you so our government can subsidize people who do want to do anything with their lives. That makes a lot of sense.  :rolleyes

If we stopped subsidizing the lazy, they would go away. Now, if we took that extra money and spent it on education (at all levels), kids would be better prepared for college and would have more funds available to help pay for college (grants, loans, scholarships). And guess what, most of those loans would get paid back.

But, hey lets not teach responsibility and accountability because then we can't be lazy our entire lives.

We already spend more money per student than any nation on Earth.  Color me unimpressed with calls to up the ante yet again, more money has proven to not be the answer to our failing schools.

More funds for college would be a good idea but we should stop all subsidization of unproductive majors (things like women's studies, ethnic studies, sociology, psychology, etc.).  Just straight up pay for the education of scientists (real ones, not social scientists), engineers, mathemagicians, and teachers; we really don't need so much of the other stuff.

In all honesty I feel bad for kids who take out huge loans to pursue dead-end majors then discover when they're like $100k in debt that their master's in ethnic studies isn't marketable at all.  Might as well just discourage that sort of thing right up front.
