    The very best.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Other board   -

-First line yesterday was Jackson, Cline, Seiler, Campbell. Of the twos, Childs, Echols and Balkcom all looked very good. As of now I think the starters come opening day will be Jackson (with Childs coming in on passing situations), Echols, Balkcom and Campbell

-Seiler or Balkcom. Heard Jackson and Childs were putting on a mad rush every snap!!!

Heard something in the Star about an injury or medical reason. Leon and some others weren't there either.

I'll hold off on the Echols bandwagon untill he plays with the 1's.

Seems like yesterday he was bull-rushing that Cal guard.

Rob Jackson is the real deal. He is gonna be a force. I've always liked Echols......sometimes he is inconsistent though.

I hope the Seiler move to DT works out...and if not,Balkcom is lurking.

As for Manu.....he thought about leaving a couple of weeks ago. He was just homesick he said...that's all...but said he liked the program. Yesterday, he was one of 5 players that were left out because of a trainers decision. I hope Manu sticks around. We need all the DE's we can get.

Seiler must be really strong since he's underweight.

Manu - Homesick ? Or lost out on starting position ?

Actually opcat........our entire DL is a little undersized, but we are just gonna have to rely on speed this year. Seiler HAS put on 15 pounds.........we need to get a pass rush this year, and that comes with quickness. We got the LB's to back us up......so I'd rather have the speed at the DL now.

We'll have at least twice as many sacks as we did last year....you watch.

And as for who is starting......I wouldn't read too much into that. I think we'll be rotating guys in on a constant basis to keep them fresh.

It's our depth that make us a better defense this year.

Seiler move to DE = this staff will put a much greater emphasis on athletes (speed) at the DE position.  We have more options there.  I was impressed by Childs and Jackson.  Childs seems a little undersized though.  Cox and Campbell were decent and the Viers kid could have a future.

I wish we had Darren Howard.

fatty, I could be way out there but I'll say this; Childs is the most athletic/impressive I've seen at DE (granted, in very limited looks) since DH at the same age.  He reminds me of Howard's quickness and speed at that age, but Howard was also undersized until his JR and SR years and got manhandled at times by teams that ran right at him.

I don't know yet what the new sceme will do to protect him.  For example, we would often eagle (which means you slide your defensive front over a gap to the strong or weak side of the offense) our front in Snyder's defensive system so that we brought our Sam LB onto the LOS on the TE so the DE on the strong side was covered up and protected a little bit.  We'd then put a bigger player at the weakside DE with no help who could hopefully handle the run a little more on his own.  I don't know if this version of the Tampa 2 will do that or not, I didn't see us playing our Sam on the LOS much saturday though.

Hope you are right about Childs. Don't think he did much in the spring game iirc. Childs, Jackson, Cambell, Manu, shouldn't be that bad.

Probably all depends on what Echols had for dinner the night before.
