Are they making a movie?  Would be a tough piece to do right imo.

They've been trying to make it for like 30 years. There's been some serious interest the past few year with Jolie often rumored to be attached to the project.  But yeah, it'd be brutal though I think it could be dumbed down to 3 - 3.5 hours if they really tried.

Don't know much about the director (or movies in general) but sounds like he would be ok for doing it.  I just don't think it could be pulled off with much success (either strays from the book to get the public to enjoy/sit through it or is correct to the book's form and dumbasses will be pissed with the lack of hollywood stupidness).  Just imo but the book is best left the book.  I get touchy about this kind of thing.

I don't disagree. Maybe as a trilogy of 3+ hour movies ala LOTR but I doubt they could do it any sort of justice in a single sitting.

IMO, the special effects in the movie were third rate.  The Matrix (10 years ago) absolutely crushes every single one of them.

This movie was a bunch of recent action idea rip offs in to an awful script, with third rate special effects and the small of Jolie's back.  Just awful.

Also, the movie said &@#% like a 7th grader; completely without context and in places that don't sound cool.

The climax of turditude was hearing a Samuel L. Jackson line delivered by Morgan Freeman.
