    ANGRY AS F*CK
Forget Rusty and that bananarama concert thing he went to.  Anyone going to any concerts this summer?

I am going to see Boston and Styx tomorrow night in OKC.  Pretty excited.  Although I just found out that neither band as the original lead singer.

I'd rather see my morning jacket than "panic", but that's just my imo, ya know?

Live music is fuggin' expensive unless it's a local band or at a club or something (and it's just about as enjoyable as a big show (see chum1's post in the comedian thread)).  I'd like to catch Dr. Dog at the Record Bar, too, now that I think of it.

Saw the Police and Wilco in May. Saw the Flaming Lips, Ben Folds, CAKE and a bunch of other groups at Wakarusa. Going to Tom Petty and then Gnarls Barkley in August. Also trying to catch Buckethead and That 1 Guy at the Granada in Lawrence and might get to go to Lollapalooza. I spend way too much money on live music.

Edit: don't know why I forgot it but I caught the last show for Kanye West's Glow In The Dark Tour and enjoyed it.

Going too, was thinking about lollapalooza but these are the two highlights for me.  Prob go to see bb king and willie nelson in alabama, austin city limits fest in the fall, and maybe a few odds and ends around kc.  Mad I missed French Kicks and Frightened Rabbit a few weeks back.

Went to already:

Spoon
Raconteurs
Deathcab (buzz I)
Everclear (free at p&l)
Rockfest (STP!!!, Saliva, Shinedown, Sevendust)

Still to see, already have tickets:

Tom Petty
Foo Fighters

Haven't decided:
Bravery or Candlebox, Bravery is free at p&l, Candlebox is 20 at Voodoo (same night)
 :ohno:

Not going to see:
buzz II or 311, period.

Wanted to see:
Dave and boys (VH), Rush (same night as rockfest), and Police, but all these tickets were almost 100 a pop. and beyond their time.  meh.

On a side note, completely asinine move to hire Tanna back at another station after getting their ass sued with a age-discrimination suit.  I'm not sure if they wanted to cover their ass or if she is in bed with the boss but she sucks.  At least she will be on some crap station I don't listen to anyways.  :chirp:

I would suck it except that I went to a Def Leppard concert at Bramlage when I was in third grade in '91.  Adrenalize tour, bitches.  How's that for a first concert?  Jealous?

Great story. Except for the fact that I went to Def Leppard the first time they played in Bramlage (Hysteria Tour-October 20 1988 - Row 35 Section 14 Seat 13). I know this because I'm looking at the ticket from said event which is conveniently stored behind the drivers license in my wallet.

    The very best.
U2 november 2000.

I had to miss the tennesse state game. We won in overtime.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Rick Daris: Although I am extremely jealous, I'm not too jealous.  Here's why.

A) I was five at the time of the Hysteria tour, albeit an awesome five year-old who loved Def Leppard and had every line of Hysteria memorized.  At five!  But obviously my parents wouldn't let me go to a Def Leppard concert then.
B) My dad, a snooty classical fan and opera history professor, had to take me.  He and my mom drew names out of a hat to see which one HAD to go.  He did EVERYTHING to try to dissuade me from going to that concert.   He even told me the day of the show that "their bus broke down in Omaha."  Bastard.  But I didn't believe him and we went anyway.  Then, while his third grade son is standing up with all the other 1/2 full crowd at Bramlage belting out "Make Love Like A Man," he sat there miserable, with earplugs in, reading a book on the composer Joseph Haydn.  Wonder if he was spotted at the Def Leppard show by any of his students?  The only regrettable part is that it started at least an hour and a half late, so, on rock star time, which gave him an excuse to make me leave early because it was "past my bedtime."  I absolutely have never forgiven him for this and never will.  It's nice because it gives me something to lord over his head whenever I want something out of him.  "Oh yeah?  You won't do this for me?  Hey, remember that time when I was eight and you made me leave the Def Leppard concert early?"  Then he gives in.  It's my version of the Michelle Tanner puppy dog lip.

Pretty great first concert story if you ask me. :dancin:

No way.  Really?  I was looking at his photos from that show literally one hour before I saw you post that.  Crazy coincidence, man,  Crazy coincidence.  Nick is a sweet dude.  I was, unknowingly, an enemy of his for years (not sure why) until we met and hung out for the first time.  Now we're buddies.  Is he settled in Pittsburg yet?
