always, have attrition, ALWAYS.  KSU football is an organization in transition.  KSU basketball is an organization in transition.  Attrition is coming from both of these changes.  Why is this a surprise to anybody?

All current players have to decide whether they want to be on Ron Prince's team.  They should have the right to make that decision.  Even though we like to have the idyllic thought that the kid "committed to good 'ol KSU" that's not necessarily reality.  The kid committed to Snyder.  Each kid has to make a decision if this transition is for them.

Ron Prince has to decide whether he wants every player on his team.  he's the leader, he's accountable he should have the right to make that decision.  Prince needs to implement his plan, he needs to be the guy, he needs to set the goals, parameters and vision and he needs to be held accountable for it.

This is what happens.  We have changing expectations.  There are going to be a certain number of people who decide it's not for me....it's part of the process.  Now, out of that certain number, there are bound to be situations that turn into what may be harsh treatment or sour grapes...depending upon your point of view.  It's part of the deal, it happens all the time in the real world....it's change....and change is always tough.

I don't know about Prince and his methods, but I know this he was unfairly anointed before coachin' a game....and he's also being unfairly crucified before coachin' a game.  For cripes sake we ought to chill out and see how it goes.

I find it ironic that we have a 4-7 and a 5-6 team in back-to-back years and the mood is that Snyder needed to instill some changes from coaches to players.  There was a common mood that this "decline" was atttributed to a range of issues including less talent, loss of leadership and team divisiveness.  So now there is a mood of outrage as Prince is culling players.  It seems possible some of these folks could be the focus of our recent problems.

I don't know the real truth, but I'm gonna wait to see what the results are before I condemn the methods.

Couple things-

People here aren't criticizing wins and losses.
People here aren't criticizing our team.
What people are criticizing are questionable decisions by a coaching staff who has yet to prove anything but that they lead with inconsistency, saying one thing and doing another.

Personally, I don't owe Ron Prince jack @#%$.  It is he that owes us.  I am a fan of KSU Football, not Ron Prince.  Ron Prince needs to earn my trust and respect.  Until he does that, I should and will question him, I have the right.  I've spent the last 20 years of my life giving to KSU, he has not.  The guy is not a Wildcat because he was offered a job by Weiser.  That comes with time.  I do not agree with how I perceive his treatment of our players in several areas, and while I don't know the full story because he hasn't given it, I see a repeated lack of respect for kids who have given their blood, sweat, and most importantly in a D1 athlete's life, time, to the purple, seemingly dismissed because they're not "his kids".  I  don't agree with it.  I believe his actions are creating divisiveness amongst our team, not unity.

One of Ron Prince's signature lines when referring to his players goes something like-  "I'm not here to make them happy, they're here to make me happy".
Since I'm paying his salary I believe I can say the same about him.

clams said it best.

as for the original post.  Sure, in a transition you lose players, but I have never seen a transition goes this poorly.  What is happening to the players is bullcrap.  Giving AE 1-2 snaps a day right out of the gate in fall camp is crappy.  look at this portion of a new article

I talked with Lopina and Evridge on the phone Thursday -- Webb didn't return a call -- and both were of the opinion that it wasn't their performance that counted when it came to the 2006 season. It was that their last name wasn't Freeman.

"In my own head, when (Freeman) went there it was apparent he was their guy," said Lopina, who has transferred to Washington State. "I thought if I stayed there I wouldn't be given an opportunity."

Evridge felt the same way. He said he has been playing well in practices -- better than Freeman -- but he didn't think it really mattered.

"There was a lot of writing on the wall," Evridge said.

PC - you don't think something's fishy when a player bails less than a week after being passed on the depth chart?

Try this one out as well --->  Rank the QBs in order of who needed the most snaps to get ready for the season.

'Competition' means the other guy is going to get snaps as well.  Evridge got the bulk in the Spring.  Freeman took snaps from him in the Fall.

If Prince and company want to know what they have in Meier and Freeman, they have to see them in practice.  Freeman hasn't played a snap of D1A, and Meier hasn't played a snap since surgery and a year of rehab.

They have loads of film on Evridge from last season, and saw him all Spring.

There's another side to this story, and it's unfortunate, but it will not be told.

There are two sides to the story, every story.
I actually indicated that in my post.

I saw them the first time.  What does that have to do with anything I posted.
If you copy and paste those two questions again I'm going to punch you in the forehead really hard.

no, I meant clams.

and clams, the questions are about the situation being discussed.  i guess you don't like the answers.  or you're trying to create answers, other than the obvious real answers, that don't make you look foolish.

and if you punch me in the forehead, I'll violate your sister's arse.  really hard.

again.

Answers?
Do you have them? I don't.  I've stated that.  If you do, please share them with us all here, seriously.
Otherwise, you're drawing your own conclusions, which is the same thing all of us are doing here.
If I look foolish for expressing my opinions I'm ok with that.  I could care less.

What's fishy about that?  It's clear to anyone not chugging Powertardade that Prince was committed go going into the season with GCJF as his #2.

Easy answer- our #1 and #2 guys. Relevance?

We all want to see Prince succeed (with the exception of Purple Cobra), I just don't like what I've seen so far but if you do, good for you.

i think it's fishy as hell that a guy talking about competition leaves as soon as he's not getting a starter's share of the snaps in fall practice.  he didn't leave when Freeman was the heir apparent, but AE was getting snaps in Spring, now did he?

meier hasn't played in over a year.  freeman has never played at this level.  you don't think the coach needs to see a little more of them in practice to know what he has at the position?

put some brain cells to work on this.

evridge couldn't stand being #3.  that's the bottom line.  he had a true freshman and a guy coming off major rehab in front of him, and he couldn't wait even one week?

"PC - you don't think something's fishy when a player bails less than a week after being passed on the depth chart?"

he didn't get passed over or beaten out though, he wasn't given a chance to compete.

"'Competition' means the other guy is going to get snaps as well.  Evridge got the bulk in the Spring.  Freeman took snaps from him in the Fall."

thats the dumbest fu*ing thing I have heard.  you mean to tell me that Prince gives one qb snaps in the spring and then another in the fall?  stupid.  competition means that everyone gets an equal shot to win the job.  if one guy gets 10 snaps then every guy shopuld get 10 snaps until it becomes clear who the best qb is.  prince started fall camp and gave Evridge little or no snaps and that ainty right.

"If Prince and company want to know what they have in Meier and Freeman, they have to see them in practice.  Freeman hasn't played a snap of D1A, and Meier hasn't played a snap since surgery and a year of rehab."

which makes it all the more retarded those 2 just got handed the keys to the whole works

"They have loads of film on Evridge from last season, and saw him all Spring."

wrong, prince said he didn't watch film on the qb's from last year.  surely your not saying our great HC is a liar are you?

yeah, it sure is fishy.  how dare he hear ron prince tell him after spring he would be given a fair shot to compete and then on day 2 of practice he gets one snap and he actually gets upset?  how dare he expect our Hc to keep his word

he competed as a co-starter all Spring, and bailed four days after fall practices opened.

how Prince equals out the snaps is his business, but there's no question that Evridge got more in the Spring.  i sure didn't hear you complaining that Freeman wasn't getting his fair share then.  Prince gave Freeman more snaps in the fall, and Evridge walked.

meier and freeman were deserving of a chance, were they not?  evridge got more snaps in the spring, and freeman worked hard.  freeman gets more snaps in the fall, and evridge walks.

that's what happened.

if you don't want to see that, you're a &@#%ing moron.  that's all there is to it.
