Of most interest:

Quote
(Anthony) Webb has been dismissed for a violation of team policy.

"Team policy"? Mangino has no history of this type of move.  Any player capable of getting on the field is usually given a standard 7 or 8 strikes, depending on the kid's upside potential.  Heck, Talib stated that he failed 3 drug tests.  Very strange, until you read on...

Quote
A junior from Dallas' South Oak Cliff High School, (Anthony) Webb later took on the punt return duties, but averaged less than one yard per return. He played in 10 games last year, making two tackles.

Hmmm... That's Darrell's high school.  The one that was changing grades for athletes.  One has to wonder if a program already on probation for lack of institutional control and academic fraud was forced to create a reason to kick this kid off the team as a means of damage control.

This may be an early indication of smoke becoming fire with regard to the Arthur situation.

Welcome back, Bill.

The primer here was the depth chart fall . . . if he was still up in the Top 1-2-3 on the depth chart, no dismissal for anything short of aggravated manslaughter.

Although your Oak Cliff retribution scenario is also plausible.

QFT....it is apparent that this kid had no chance of seeing any time on the field this year.  He is obviously the "Cleveland St." of the ku football team.  The real question is: who screwed up royally to get this guy kicked off?

Hello boys.  I think 'violation of team policy' means 'he sucked too much.'  I don't know.  Maybe he wanted to 'do hoodrat things with his friends.'  You're probably right, though.  If it were Briscoe, Mangino would have just suspended video games for the weekend.

Other notable Jayhawks who "graduated" from South Oak Cliff HS in Dallas:

2004 - Dexton Fields
2006 - Xavier Rambo

Does it seem odd to anyone else that 4 Division 1 caliber athletes out of the same Dallas high school ended up choosing the same out of state college (ku) between 2004 & 2006?

I wonder if they didn't pass the in-state college entrance exam.  Baylor, as a private institution, may have been exempt (or, if he didn't pass it then that eliminated that opportunity).

Do Texas High Schools have to take the college entrance exam??

I would suspect they all had the same Algebra teach as Da-Rell "wut" Arthur had.
