It isn't nearly as good as Sonic.  Well at least not as good as the few Sonics left that still have the original Hickory Burger on the menu.

5 guys (we have one here it's the best chain burger, good fries with malted vinegar)

they just opened up 2 five guys burger and fries in kc, one in independence and one in olathe, haven't been yet.  heard it's the east coast version of in and out.

Pffft.  They wouldn't know a burger from a hole in the ground out there.  Burgers Salads, sprouts, and other assorted freakishly weird health food combos are a SoCal thing, cheesesteaks and everything else unhealthy are an east coast thing.
FYP?

That's not to say that I don't love In-n-Out, but to claim burgers as a SoCal thing?
In-N-Out just happen to be in SoCal.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Don's Drive In in Oakley is by far the best I've had in Kansas.

it was pretty money when I lived in DC and the store was actually owned by the "five guys". Now that they have franchised out I hope it's still as good. The fries cooked in peanut oil are amazing.

Ty's is excellent. So is the Oasis Lounge in Wichita.

Cozy Inn in Salina.

But for fast food, I'd have to go with the Whopper...WITH cheese.

I forgot about the Billy Goat in Chicago.  Not the touristy one on the Navy Pier, but the original one underground on Lower Michigan Avenue.

    Wait...what?
5 Guys just opened in Olathe.  Deliciously sloppy.   :lick:

Can't go wrong with Winsteads.   :lick:

Whataburger is outstanding.  One weekend in Texas, I had it for Thursday lunch, Friday lunch, Friday late night, Saturday lunch, and Sunday lunch.  Can't get it up here, so you gotta get it when you can.   :frown:   :lick:
