well that isn't racist but neither is trying to help your own people.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Wooly recruiting:

Sutton-no chance

Jamar Samuals-no chance

Pullen-no chance

Clemente-no chance

not true.  none of those guys are out of Wooly range.  They are the top end, but not better.  Cartier was a way better recruit than any of those guys.

I'm telling you, this team will be worsier than any wooly team. It may be better than 02-03.

no.  it'll be like one of the better wooly teams (still suckage) overall winning record.  Losing conference record...bottom half, but not a threat to finish last.

When you take into account geography on all of those guys . . . NO CHANCE, under Wooly.

Why would I care about geography?  that's retarded.  How many top 100s has Martin landed from Texas or Oklahoma?  do i give a rats ass?

How many other wooly HS recruits were in that range?  Stewart & Dez?

Actually, I think East coast players are generally better than Midwest players rated similarly.  So, yeah, that kind of matters.

As far as recruiting ranking go?

Martin > Sutton
Wilingham > Clemente
Stewart > Pullen
Hayden > Samuels

Martin is bringing them in at a higher rate, which is great, but don't give me this crap about these guys being much better than wooly could get.  It just isn't true.  As for geography...it's too stupid to even consider as a factor. Wooly and his staff were from Oklahoma and Texas.  Martin and his staff are from DC and Florida...so what?

It's very relevant.

Put your Wooly Memorial neck brace back on and relax.

I think the quantity is significant.

There were only two seasons where there were at least three of those players on the roster, and one of those was Hayden's psycho year.  Consider the Cartier injury/suspension and Dez injury in 03-04, and you don't have a full season with three on the roster.  (In six).

But, I still see your point.

I'd like to hear why Dax thinks geography is so significant, too.

My point is not to defend Wooly's recruiting.  Martin is doing a much better job.  No contest.  Just based on the kids listing us and the visits we are getting alone.  The rate at which the top 100 types are committing.  The point I was arguing is the assertation that are 4 players on our current roster than were better than anyone Wooly ever got.  This is like Fitz's "without Walker, Hoskins and Beasley well still have more talent than we've had in 20 years" statement.

Anderson, Samuels, Gilbert, Awaji, Herrera and Henriquez are no different than any typical wooly recruit. That's 6 scholarships. All garbage. Not a single top 100 RSCI. Not a single one even showed up on anyones top 150. Maybe samuels?

Samuels had a few phantom offers, Anderson wasn't offered from a big. Gilbert? Awaji, maybe nebraska?  Herrera had nothing. Henriquez had a few mid-majors.

Clemente was a nice pick-up.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

nothing screams powertard more than posts acting like huggy/martin noname recruits are better than wooly's top line recruits.

To contrast Martin vs Huggins

Martin: 7 recruits, 1 RSCI top 100 guy #95 (he only gets 2 years)

Huggins: 5 recruits, 2 RSCI top 100 guys #49, #22 (Both frosh) one fringe top 100 guy (roscoe davis)

I'm not sure how anyone can be happy with martin's recruiting. 2008 was incredibly terrible. So were his 2007 additions.

the promise of 2009s to come.  without that, we would lynch him.

QFT.  It's like Frank doubled down on how terrible '08 recruiting was going to be by picking up Colon 2.0 and the JJ from Good Times.

Based on what?  The fact we have 72 players that are going to be seniors that year?

It's also likely that Huggins' unexpected departure affected 2008 recruiting just a bit.  Haven't we realized by now that recruiting isn't something you go out and do overnight?  How were Huggins' 2007 additions, BTW?

Comparing the recruiting package of Martin/KSU with the package of Huggins/WVU actually makes Huggins' look terrible in 2009.  Terrible.  Only a few really good prospects for them right now and we're leading for their top one.  They have a tremendous advantage.  They should be much better than us.  But we're kicking their asses in 2009.

I know optimisim is a rare element on these boards, but I believe the Cats have a great shot to finish top 3 in the conference. We have two very good guards, a post player in Anderson who does all the little things right, and an all-conference caliber player in Sutton. People like to point out that Sutton can't score, but the guy came mid-season, give him an offseason to develop his shot and build some confidence (same goes to all the other guys) and our team could make it to the tourney and win a couple games. Not to mention, Frank's got a season under his belt and we will all see how great of a coach he really is. I know that as KSU fans we really don't have anything to look forward to in the football season, but get ready for november-march because this team is going to turn some heads big time.
