If Chris Long is available at 5, take him.  He's essentially a Jared Allen clone.  The Raiders will take McFadden, leaving Long on the board.

Is he still injured?  Would he be much to trade atp?  Good idea if we can unload him.  Do we need a QB enough to take Henne?  Or are we going to flush our entire season again with Brodie?

Terrible idea.

What we should do is swap first round picks with New England, get them in front of the Jets and then pick up their third round as well. Then from the number seven spot we should swap with Cincinnati and be at number nine for their third round pick. From their we should draft Brandon Albert out of Virginia and then spend our 17 pick on whatever good defensive lineman remains.

Second round should be spent on another offensive lineman and then third round you look for a cornerback, a wide receiver and one of these guys should be able to return kicks.

They just mentioned that the Rams would be taking Chris Long.  I guess that means Dorsey to the Falcons.  I'd suggest the Raiders take a ku lineman.  They are superior talent.

Now they are talking about Atlanta taking Matt Ryan.  Glenn could still be available at 5, but..... the Chiefs could trade down?  Take Dorsey you flippin morans!

He's kind of injury plagued.  Has always played through it, but still risky.

With two First Round picks the Chiefs got the best DT and the best "OT prospect" in the draft. This couldn't be going better for them in my opinion. Now if they can get some CB's and a WR I'll be thrilled.

Great thread, dorks.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Got the CB in Brandon Flowers out of Virginia Tech. This is another great pick. So far I think the Chiefs are 3-3 with their picks.

In summary.....

1. The Top 3 picks are tremendous
2. Jamaal Charles is a great pick because he'll provide rest for Larry Johnson and is capable of some homeruns himself
3. I like the Brad Cottam pick and see him as a goal line threat and I think he has the potential to be a great blocker for Johnson and Charles

I'm not going to go through all of the picks because this is about as deep as I think the Chiefs draft was. I say we came away with 5 pretty good picks and some others that may prove to be pretty good. They improved both lines and at corner which were two of their three biggest priorities. We'll have to see if William Franklin or Kevin Robinson can make an impact. If they do people will be talking about the Chiefs 2008 draft for years to come.

Didn't Charles run kicks back at Texas?  Right now, this is where his biggest impact will be.  The Chiefs were horrible at kick returning.  Charles should help that.

Mel Kiper Jr.'s grade:

Kansas City Chiefs: GRADE: A

The rebuilding process is on. The Chiefs started the draft with 13 picks, and they made them count. After getting defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey -- the No. 1 player on my Big Board -- with the fifth overall pick, the Chiefs grabbed tackle Branden Albert, although he will be a work in progress. Virginia Tech cornerback Brandon Flowers would have been a mid-first-round pick if he had run better 40 times at the NFL combine. On Day 2, RB Jamaal Charles and Tennessee TE Brad Cottam -- who has untapped ability -- will be nice complements on offense. Cottam could be a diamond in the rough. DaJuan Morgan is a solid safety, Brandon Carr is another corner who might be a sleeper and Kevin Robinson can make his mark in the return game. Barry Richardson never materialized into a great offensive lineman at Clemson, but he could start right away with the holes Kansas City has on its offensive line. Defensive end Brian Johnston has long-range potential.
