http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/15203438.htmRB James Johnson was regarded as one of the gems of Kansas State’s recruiting class. It might take a while, though, to see him in action.
Johnson did not report Friday because his academic standing remains incomplete. The same goes for Blinn (Texas) College transfer Courtney Edmond, a defensive back.
“We expect their arrival,” coach Ron Prince said.
The same may not be true for freshmen running back Jamal Schulters and offensive lineman Patrick Turner. They failed to meet NCAA academic qualifications, though they might try to appeal their status, Prince said.
Redshirt freshman wide receiver Val Taylor also cannot participate in practice until he takes care of unfinished academics, and senior punter Jesse Martinez is in the same situation, Prince said. Sophomore running back Parrish Fisher also isn’t in camp as he rehabilitates from a knee injury.
Prince offered no reason as to why senior defensive back Noah Strozier from Rockhurst High and redshirt freshman tight end Nate Prater aren’t part of the 105-player roster. They still could be added at a later date.
