what does ku have returning that makes them favorable to win anything this year?  seriously, name me one thing that indicates they will have improved since last year.

I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

Cornish will get more carries, and he is a stud.  Our lines should be better on both sides of the ball, so the running game should improve.  I'm hoping that will take pressure off of Meieir and the receivers, who are pretty unproven at this point.  If you win in the trenches, it makes it easier on everyone else to do their jobs.

Cornish a stud?  Not being able to take the #1 outright spot from Clarke Green does not make you a stud.  Cornish is going to have to be the #1 back this year, and with a frosh QB at the helm, the squawkers will depend very heavily on him.  Now how can any ku fan consider that a good sign?

Mediocre offense with a freshman QB, and a young and inexpierienced defense, I just can't see how any Jayhawk fan can be so confident...

Well, you can't fall off the floor.  Our offense was not mediocre last year..Swanson, as bright as he shone in the highlights, threw 10 INT in 6 games.  If Meier averages less than 2 picks a game, I think we'll be OK.

    The very best.
Yes, and if we played ku later in the season we still would have beaten the Hawks even with Swanson.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Tough for me to speculate, fatty.  It might have helped keep our D fresher if Swanson played better than Luke/Barmann/et al.  I'm still mad they put Barmann back in after Herford had those good runs.

Yes, I enjoyed Adam's prompt fumble.

so the lines are improved, the rb is the same, the receivers suck, the qb is a freshman, and the defense is not going to be as good.  i guess you answered my question though b/c the line is improved.

So basically, if little bro does better than the ku QB's did last year, their offense won't suck as bad?  I really don't think that's too much to be proud of.

ku is pointing to the schedule a lot to why they will have some success this year.  They don't have OU, UT and TT.

I think their OL will be better.  The DL being better is still quite uncertain.  Charlton was pretty good last year and Allen had a lot of starts under his belt.  Last years DL also had more freedom to cut loose IMO because they knew how good their LB core was.

ku has 2 pretty good players on D (Talib and McClinton)  Everyone else has a lot to prove now that the 5 best players from last years D are gone.

Cornish is a good back.  He is no stud.  LIke I have said, i don't care how good on ST he was last year, if he was a stud, he gets more carries and see 80 percent of the plays on offense over Green.

There were a lot of questions about the playcalling last season, and the QB situation was a mess.  We wanted more Cornish, Quartaro often gave us quick-slants on 3rd and 2. :banghead:

We have a couple of OL that are potential All-Big XII--Ochoa and Anthony Collins, who overtook the undersized Matt Thompson at Tackle last year.  Wayne Wilder, James McClinton, and Rodney Allen could contend for all-conference honors as well, especially if Eric Butler gets to come back (he is appealing the NCAA ruling about his eligibility running out) to add depth.  The competition is heavy at LB right now, and it looks like only Rivera has locked up the starting MLB spot.  Mortensen is good, but it appears Jake Schermer has improved quite a bit and is pushing him hard.  One could say they are all young, but I like the competition.  Stuckey and Kemp look like the starting safeties right now, but Olaitan Oguntodu is a physical freak and will at least make the two-deep.  Talib is...Talib.  The second CB spot is an area of concern...I hear Strozier and Anthony Webb (both frosh) are pushing Bueltel (mid-year JUCO) for the starting spot.

There are a number of questions, but morale is good, the players are physically better than we've had in a long time, and there is healthy competition.  Not trying to blow sunshine, just my .02.
