It says Rock Chalk and has a chicken between the two words.

Who's got the paint?  Perhaps a shotgun blast to the beak?

Please don't let this one sit around without decoration as long as the last one did.

Is this a new one?  I drive by that piece of crap every day so it's something I probably have tuned out.  I'll try to pay close attention to tonight.

Lots of shotguns are handy in my area.  I could tell some friends I need to borrow their gun to go turkey hunting.  They would just laugh at me though.    :'(

Where are the Purple Lion Commandoes when you need some covert vandalism?

A well organized, mult-shotgun, simultaneous blasting of the sign would be a very quick and effective way of sending a message.  At some point, you have to punish not only those who are renting the space, but those who are renting it to them.*

OT but related to signs...

Dara's Fast Lane on Anderson has a K-State related note on their marquee...

It should say something like "SpongeBob would stay".

All you need is a little bow saw.  You wouldn't need to cut it all the way down, just about 2/3 of the way through.  With the way the wind blows in that area, it'll come down with the next storm.  That way the perp would be nowhere near the incident when it occurred.

This would also allow the perp to stay low to the ground and out of sight to passing motorists.*

True, but at least I knew it's turkey season.  That's gotta count for something.

I have a gun, but my wife won't allow ammo in the house.  It's kinda a like a lesbian with a condom,  I guess -- it'll never be used as intended.

LOL, not a hunter of any kind.

UPDATE:  The sign is just as jeffy described.  Brand new, pristine looking....practically begging to be vandalized.  I was going to stop and take a pic of it yesterday but it was starting to rain.

What exactly would the punishment be for vandalizing said sign?

Depends on if the arresting officer is a Jayhawk or a Wildcat.

I don't think it would be that hard to get some guys together and go and turn the billboard into a K-State billboard. I mean with paint rollers and everything. Paint it purple and then paint a white Powercat with "Go cats" underneath it. Make it look professional and what not. I wonder how hard that would be to pull off...

Not endorsing this idea, I would never endorse any illegal activity but I would still be impressed if someone pulled it off in the same way that I'm impressed with a guy that gets away in a police chase. Again, I wouldn't encourage said activity and I expect more from K-Staters but it's just a thought.

You would need big stencils, it would take a while for the paint to dry.

But it would be sexy as hell. You could do the purple one night and then the details the next night.

how much paint would be theoretically needed?

Not as much as you think.  A typical gallon of paint covers approx 300-400 square feet.  Assuming the billboard is 14X48 ft, it would take around 2 gallons to cover it all purple.  Then a gallon or two of white for the powercat (you have to assume two coats with that dark background).

If you want to repaint, consider a BB gun to shoot out the lights on it so you aren't noticed by that lone smokey pulling by at 3 am.
