The sweep of Detroit is going to hurt the Royals more than it will help them.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

ONLY 159 GAMES TO GO!

Name the last team to get swept by the Royals and still win a World Series.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau

TIGERS DROP TO 0-5

The Tigers lost again Saturday, dropping their season record to 0-5. Only two teams have ever made the playoffs after starting a season with five straight losses: the 1974 Pirates and the 1995 Reds, who both overcame 0-6 starts.

Good answer.  And for all I know, you are right.

1993.  Joe Carter, etc.

Before that, the '87 Twins finished their regular season with a five-game skid, including a sweep in KC.

Yeah it really doesn't look good.  Luckily Detroit will probably have at least 1 (possibly 2) championship to soften the blow.  KC?  Not so much.

Champioships at what?  This was "the year" and they suck.  Verlander is a flash in the pan.  There is no chemistry on the big $ guys.  Guys like Rodriguez are aging fast now that their roids are gone.  Meanwhile, the Royals have the potential to have the best 1-5 rotation in baseball over the next few years.

And yet, 6 games back.  You realize it isn't even June right?  The trend can be reversed over the 100+ games left.

I'm not saying the Tigers are going to come charging back and take the division (they well could) but I will lay serious dough that they finish above the Royals (who are in so far over their heads pitching it isn't funny).  At this point the Rays are atop the AL East with the Yanks on bottom.  Let's not get too carried away.

Defense will remain the Tigers' downfall.  They paid big bucks for a bat, but got no glove with it.
