Good places to live in Manhattan?

I might be getting a job that brings me back to the Flint Hills, and it has been a while since I lived there.  For those of you that still live in Manhattan, where are the best places to rent?  I looking to avoid stupid underclassmen drama and Lin-type scum holes.  I would actually prefer a small house to rent through a small agency if possible.  Anyone have any tips or places?  Websites or photos would be awesome.

I guess I should add that I don't need a big place.  It'll just be me and my special lady friend, so those 3 or 4 bedroom places are just a tad large for my needs.  When I went to KSU I lived in a Lin owned quasi-crap hole on 1012 Fremont and then those apts on N 14th by Burger King.  I'd love a place with some privacy and maybe a bit of yard.

Westchester park.  They have two pools!  Plus they don't allow underclassmen to rent unless they are married to someone who isn't in school.  It's not a house, but they have two pools!  And a tennis court!

Founder's Hill is pretty new nice (apartment) don't know the name of anything else.

These are the newish duplexes on Little Kitten.  There are older ones across the street.

QFT, I lived there too, my first year at KSU.

What a small world.  Lived in the top one with the 2 levels and deck.  This was 96, they were still pretty nice...until we lived there.
