When there is a word that ends with an s,(such as estás it will come off as está) Puerto Ricans don't really emphasize the s. I had Luis in a Spanish class last year and he would always leave off the s, much to the chagrin of the teacher.
He doesn't lose any eligibility during his transfer, does he? Three to play two, correct?
