I know USC was big time exposure, but beating ku put us in the tourney.  It was a win over the #2 ranked team in the country.  The only other unbeaten aside from Memphis.  We beat a one seed.  Compare that to a win over an unranked USC team.

We didn't beat ku, they didn't play their A game.   We were an 11 seed because of it.

Yes they did it's just that the refs were controlling the pace of the game.

Both were big.  USC was bigger because the stage was considerably bigger.

They have formulas that account for that and adjust the RPI accordingly.

Like when you beat a team who is tuckered from having to face a scrappy Colorado team just one day before their 21 point drubbing?

Yes they did it's just that the refs were controlling the pace of the game.

Being on the east coast, I didn't get to see the USC game (ACC country)   :yuck:
While only SD, I did get to see the ku game.  And yes, there was a lot of national press for that game.  I'm not sure I agree that the USC game played to a much bigger stage than the ku game.  There were fewer big games to cover on Sports Center the night we broke the streak, and you know how ESPN loves to feature highlights on games they cover.   Recruiting-wise, the ku game meant more.  The whole DC Assault area, along with the entire east coast, was watching Duke eke out a lucky win over Belmont.
