Ranked up and down throughout the year

Lost 2 home games, broke about even away

Ended the streak in Bramlage(in dominating fashion)

Finished 3rd in the Big XII standings

Got to watch the best player in the nation every game

Went to the NCAA tournament for the first time in ages, and made it to the second round

In comparison, we could finally be playing in the NIT under Woolly had we kept him, or we could have hired Greg McDermott and be where Iowa State is.

My overall thoughts on the season =  :woot:

great season.  and the future looks great.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

I'd take an NCAA bid over no NCAA bid.  To me, that the only thing that matters.

It was a fantastic season and well worth it, but it's depressing to be so close and still so far away.  And then there's our scary future.  Why do you think it's so bright sys?

Clearly you alluded to it in your post....but absolutely worth it.  Watching Mike was a treat.  We finally will have a player in the NBA...and a damn good one at that.  ku streak ended, we got in the tournament....those were big scarlet letters on our program.  I hope Bill can come back but I'm not holding my breath.  Hopefully Frank and Dalonte can pick up some shooters for '08.  Assuming Judge and McGruder still make it to campus we might be able to keep momentum going.

Overall I like the direction of the program.  Lookin' forward to watching Clemente run the floor next year.
"Kids used to hit him and stab him with pencils," says Harley Bennett, Jason's father. "Finally I told him he had to stick up for himself. Jason is not a violent person. One day he hit one of the kids back and got suspended."

Our "future" has two unproven red shirts and scored a grand total of 8 points today   :banghead:

    Hey, basketball!!!
Are you kidding me?? Most exciting basketball season for my team since I was born.

We didn't finish it off strong, which hurt, but we finished the season in the final 32....which is where we were most of the season.

This has been a great season to watch, & I have enjoyed .500 K-State bball teams. Beasley & Walker were awesome to watch for the season. Beasley set all of those records as a freshman, just wow! Hopefully Walker stays one more year.

Finished 3rd in the Big 12, got a win in the NCAA tourney.

My only regret was not taping the games at the beginning of the season on dvd (I started with Iowa St.). At least I got some on dvd.

2 best games of the season was:

The win at home against Kansas & the win against USC in the tournament.

Why do you think it's so bright sys?

nat'l tv, elite black uniforms, real non-con games, connected coaches that know how to recruit.

QFMFT.  When is the last time we've had one of those?

So do you think we'll get enough for next year to compete, or just bide time for 09.

Our last connected coach was Jack, when his assistant... ugh... the name escapes me, brought us Curtis Redding and Ro.

This is already a phog talking point.  Why is Frank only judged next year?  Why not this year?  Or the year after next?

I'd be happy with a high NIT seed, honestly.

That would be very disappointing and would show Frank can't coach.

As opposed to 97 through 2007?
Stopped the streaks. All in all a good year, but what could have been had Hoskins not been injured (although we still had crap guards).

We wanted to make the NCAA Tournament and not only did we make it but we won a game. Yeah.....I think I'd call it a success!

I think most fans set expectations towards the high end.

I was wanting us to be 2nd in the Big 12, get a 5 seed in the tourney, make the sweet 16........ and all of this was before i knew that D-Hos was gone for the year.

We got 3rd in the league.  Our seed was not as good but we won one touney game and lost to a 3 seed in our 2nd game.

We got a lot more national exposure than i expected because of how good Beasley ended up being.

Breaking the streak was huge. Our fans suffered enough.

Our non con, we looked like a team that would barely make the dance.   Then we won 8 of 10 league games.  Beat ku, OU and aTm and looked like a top 25 team.  Only winning 2 of the next 7 was tough because we saw the "potential" this team had.  Solid outing in the NCAAs.  We beat SC by double digits and got a lot of exposure from that win.   Lost today, but it was to the 5th ranked team in the nation.

This was the best season in 20 years of K-State basketball, no doubt it was worth it.  Sure, there might be some questions for the future, but overall its bright.  We have some solid returners and perhaps the best recruiting connections in K-State history.  At least since Hartman and NY.

Yes, this year was well worth it and I look forward to the   of K-State basketball.  Plus I'll always appreciate getting to watch Beasley and Walker.

    I said throw down, boy!!
At the beginning of the year, I was hoping for sweet 16.  After watching our team this year, I am statisfied with how it ended up.  I have my fears about the coming years and just being a one-year-wonder (like most of us do).  But I see the players we have (even without Mike and Bill) and I know that from a talent standpoint we are in much better shape than we ever where under Wooly.  It's been said before, we tried the safe-hire route.  We tried all of that crap and it didn't work worth a d*mn.  So now we've tried something new.  If Frank doesn't end up working out, so be it.  He won't be any worse than the guys before him (how could he be) and at least we will have gotten a couple of good years out of the deal.  That beats the h*ll out of what we've been.

That being said.....Mike and Bill, if you could do us a favor and hang around for another season it would really help out....thanks.

Is this a serious question?  Was it worth risking another 6-10 Big 12 finish with five middle of the road players, keeping the program off them map for the NPOY, national exposure, boosted recruiting and making NCAA Tournament?  You tell me.
Show me defense.

Its a rhetorical question.  Weigh the pros (NPOY, Made it to final 32, broke 2 streaks, showed we can get major players, two big time recruits for '09, exposure) versus the cons (uh, uk doesn't like hiring an unproven coach, jason w. hates Dalonte Hill...any others?) and the answer is obvious.
