I think he's going to be really fun to watch in the future.

I refuse to acknowledge him as having any potential until he hits a freakin' jump shot.

Unfortunately the other guy is not eligible to play until next year.  Clemente + Sutton will cause chaos on D.

Even without a jumper DS will be better than A Wright (nothing against AW).

He doesn't need to be a jump shooter.  He needs to be a rebounder, defender, penetrate, clean up around basket, score in transition, make free throws type of player.  And he has the potential to be a great player at filling that role.

I agree, but he needs to be at least a little bit better of a jump shooter.  At least Aakeem Wright good.  Right now he's probably 0-20 outside of 5 ft. and only 50% from the FT line.  He's got to get a little better than that.  (and I think he will)

the fact that you just compared a guy who cant dribble to DS is embarrassing.  im not saying that sutton will be an incredible badass but akeem wright is/was a worse basketball player than clent stewart.

Akeem Wright was a solid player, he did a lot of things that no one noticed.  Best defender, great rebounder, and a good ball handler for being 6'6'' and could hit a mid range shot, similar to Gilbert, that's probably why you didnt notice him because all you probably look at is ppg

QFT.  Wright was underrated. 10x what Gilbert is right now in every department except prob 3 pointers.

Last time I checked you still win games by scoring more points then the other team....Hitting a jump shot goes a long ways towards making that happen.

Did you know you can actually influence scoring without actually scoring?  And did you know you can score in other ways than jump shots?  Imagine that.  I'm not saying Sutton should blow off his jump shot, I'm saying that it probably isn't going to be his strength, and if it isn't, he needs to do those other things really well.  I think he can be a decent shooter based on his free throw shooting but if you're expecting him to turn into a great jump shooter, it probably won't happen.  You will be hard pressed to find more than one or two good jump shooters on any team.

Without Sutton, we lose that game.

Sutton at 100% is the X-factor for this team.

He is good for at least 2 or 3 steal/dunks a game.

He's athletic and plays good defense.

If he can learn a mid range jumpshot and how to drive to the basket on the offensive end, he is going to be unstopable.

All we need this year is the Sutton we saw on Saturday.  He'll have plenty of time to develop some more of his game, but for a mid-year guy who wasn't a Top 25 player and after having gone through an injury, his contribution has been pretty good.  He needs to keep giving us consistent defense with a few steals/breakaways per game, some rebounds, including a put-back/follow slam or two, and knowledge of where he needs to be on offense.  If he gets some opportunities for drives so be it, but we don't need him shooting jumpers right now.

Sutton is a big reason we beat Kansas in Bramlage. The guy can disrupt passing lanes and I'm pretty sure his arms are about 5 feet long.  :eyeseeyou:

Why would Sutton, who is like 21, transfer to sit out a year?

The dude is very athletic maybe the most athletic guy on the team which would put him at the top of the league as well.  Would be nice if he could make a shot as someone said he's never going to be a great shooter but if there was at least a threat of him making something it would open up his game a lot.  If Bill Walker comes back next year and we run out with Pullen, Clemente, Walker, and Sutton in the starting 5 then regardless of who the 5th starter is you'd be talking about the fastest most athletic group in the league.   Obvioulsy it would be a small lineup but it woul be fun to watch.   You could get away with that group because Walker and Sutton are both strong and they play bigger then what they are.  I'd probably start Kent along side that group because I think he'd fit best with the skill sets of the other guys and the tempo that lineup would need to play at.

Bad idea's for 1000, I would much rather see Ronald in there over Kent. The only thing Kent has that Ronald doesnt is a sweet nickname
