Which league has great big men?  A couple teams in the Big East and Pac 10 are the only ones I can think of.  The fact is, great big men are becoming a thing of the past in college basketball.  The Big 12 is average when it comes to big men but it's not like there are none.  Maric, Longar, Griffin, Arthur, Jackson, Atchley, James, Jordan, Jones to name a few.  They aren't slouches by any means.  I think he is reaching for excuses to downplay his production.

He didn't say it definitively.  He hesitated and then gave his reasoning.  Melo is an All-Star and averages over 25 a game in the NBA.

Beasley will not be everybody's pick for the greatest player ever and won't win every POY award this year.  He will win some though.

Just enjoy the fact that Beasley is a Cat and represents KSU well.  Let everyone think what they want.  Gottlieb's opinion may be right and it's not so bad that it is debatable b/t Melo & Beas.  Be happy that he didn't say that Keith Van Horn is a better pro.
