I paid $65 including shipping for an iriver T50.

Kind of overpriced for a 1gb player, but the AA battery and 52 hour battery life make it worth it imo.  You can also delete files on the go with it, which I really like because I always listen to new songs from mp3 blogs every day and delete the crap.

1 gb is plenty for the way I listen to music.

what about a person that listens to the same crap all the time, but seldom to never downloads music?  would they need more.  i guess basically, how many songs is 1 gb?

battery life seems important, i wouldn't have thought to look for that myself, thx.

I got a Zune 80gb and it is very good but is around $250.  It can hold more than you have time to listen/watch.

This 2 GB Sony has excellent battery life. I got one for Christmas, charged it that day and have only had to charge it once since. I'm getting about 32 hours of battery life out of it. Sony got rid of their crap software and now you can use this player with Media Player.

iriver...disposable battery is awesome. it's cheap too, and does the job. you just need to find somewhere do d/l free music.

Check out the new Walkman.  The earbuds are worth it by themselves--they're that good.  Plus it's got a decent amp.  Plays AAC, WMA-DRM.  No software required--just drag and drop.  The older "square" Walkman requires extra software to manage tunes.

You can buy rechargeable AA's.  The rechargeable batteries in mp3 players tend to crap out.

I hate 'chargable batteries because if you want to use it, and are short on time you are fracked if it's dead. That always seemed to happen to me.

THat, and after 1 month your battery life is slashed in half.
