i usually use gift cards to buy crap that i would never ordinarily buy myself, with my own money.
for example.  if someone gave pissclams a $75 gift card to best buy, i would consider the following options, each of which are wildly over-priced-

An $80 toaster

This $100 blender, it's 600 watts!!

A European iron that costs $60, USD

i could do this all day.

I would probably by a $75 Sirius gift card and use it to pay for my subscription for a few months.

With the cash I would either buy one $70 hooker or seventy $1 hookers.

Well I'm in a dilemma because i mostly listen to sports talk in my car, I usually do not watch movies more than once, Although i will for sure be getting 300, and probably 3:10 to yuma.

maybe i'll get LOTR trilogy.

I got married recently so I pretty much have everything I could ever want right now that is affordable with the bday money I have.

    The very best.
I usually buy the super-sized box of hot tamales at target.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I got a $50 BB&B gift card for Christmas.  I can't decide if I need a convection oven or a humidifier more (or less)

lol at $1 hookers.  any prostitute that could get $1, could easily charge $2 without losing her clientèle.  low self esteem, imo.

just got 20 more dollars.

Can I get a home theatre system for 200 or so?  Best buy has one but customer reviews weren't great. :ohno:

I'm not a snob or anything, have one now that works great but it is old.

If you can't find crap to spend your gift cards on then sell them to your friends/family for like 5-10 dollars less than their value.

QFT, I also blame the bear market, the home mortgage crisis and general supply and demand issues in our free market economy.

what about the HTS for 200?  Is it worth the risk?  How crappy can it really be?

I thought about that also but I never have time to play anything, and don't want to pay for live.

I'm leaning towards the HTS and have an email out to a guy that installs them and does custom set up stuff to see if he knows how crappy the one I can afford is.

$40 for a year of Xbox Live is the cheapest form of entertainment you will ever pay for, but don't let that get in your way.

Yeah right, you never have time. Whatever.  $200 for a home theater system sucks.  Most people spend more than $200 on a single speaker.  You can't even get a decent amp for $200.  Your friend is probably a dumbass too, IMO.

How about you just buy all of the seasons of LOST or some crap with your precious gift card, and then STFU!!

I heard the head of PSP marketing saying that the PSP is really cool now.  Take that with a grain of salt, I suppose.
